About this listen

The first official novel from Game Grumps

Listen up, kid. My name is Dr. Cecil H.H. Mills. I’m the author of this book and many other ones that you might not have heard of. This book is about two idiot wannabe detective-types. Their names are J.J. and Valentine Watts, but I’m not sure if they’re actually brothers or not.

They make a friend; her name is Trudi de la Rosa. She’s a wannabe detective-type too, but honestly, she’s less of an idiot than the brothers.

The three of them team up to solve a mystery that takes place in a snowy chateau up in the mountains. It gets more complicated around chapter 11, but now you’ve got the main gist of it. The story’s full of intrigue and adventure and puzzles and light violence and some swear words. It’s really entertaining.

Just buy the book and start listening. You’ll understand everything about the Ghost Hunters Adventure Club very soon.

Dr. Cecil H.H. Mills astounds yet again by conquering the inhospitable wilds of the intellectual wasteland otherwise known as "young adult fiction," further cementing his reputation as the most brilliant and handsome author working today. And it is at this point that I am legally obligated to disclose that the esteemed author has had a restraining order against me ever since an unfortunate misunderstanding involving a beaver at a Denny's in Grand Rapids, MI circa 1992, but don't let that obfuscate the truth of Dr. Mills' heroic accomplishment in the field of youth-oriented adventure literature. The only thing more engrossing than his mastery of the written word is the charming timbre of his practiced oratory. I salute you, good sir, and would much appreciate it if you would retract your lawsuit compelling the State of Michigan to register me as a sex offender, as I find it terribly uncalled for and constitutes an undue burden on my ability to find gainful employment. Best regards, You Know Who.

Gripping, a tour de force.

Dr. Cecil H.H. Mills' nephew put me onto this masterpiece! Really couldn't understand his reservations about the book though....
Maybe he just feels like he might end up living in the shadow of his uncle's newfound literary prowess!
Very understandable.

Incredible experience of literature

The story gets bored with itself at times, shifting focus at slightly awkward times for seemingly little reason. The narration is good, but Ari- I'm sorry, Dr. Cecil H.H. Mills A: forgets minutia about the different voices between the recordings, and B: gave some characters accents that he seemingly didn't have much experience with, which made them a bit flat to listen to as the intonation was pretty monotone at times.

Overall though, I enjoyed it. It doesn't do anything particularily special, but it stays a semi-interesting tale the entire way. The real irony of the book to me though is that Dr. Cecil is by far the most interesting character, despite being the (occasionaly grating) narrator.

The mediocre kind of good

The good Dr. Cecil H.H. Mills is a genius of literature and deserves all your money.

Jk, but it really is a funny book. If you’re a fan of Arin, this is chock full of his sort of round-about comedy. Congratulations to him for making this happen!

Sheer Genius

In typical style of the author there are wonderfully developed characters neither a quirky nature that feels original and somehow classic. The story is genuinely fun and interesting and the meta humor behind it is wonderfully well done! Not only that they adjust some jokes for the audiobook to make it original and fun! Would definitely recommend . The good doctor did it again!

Wonderful meta humor and a genuinely interesting mystery!

reads more like an animated stage play than a monotone novel. lots of clever jokes.

high brow potty humor

I am a little bit more old school listener that remembers Arin from his Newground days. So for me it feels insanely nostalgic hearing his voice narrate something for me. Other than that, the book is more of a comedy than anything else border lining on parody. If you like those kind of books, you'll love this one.

Egoraptor!
