Publisher's summary

Three women. Three daughters. And a promise that they'll each get what they deserve.

College admissions season at Seattle's Elliott Bay Academy is marked by glowing acceptances from top-tier institutions and students as impressive as their parents are ambitious. But when Stanford alerts the school it's allotting only one spot to EBA for their incoming class, three mothers discover the competition is more cutthroat than they could have imagined.

Tech giant Alicia turns to her fortune and status to fight for her reluctant daughter's place at the top. Kelly, a Stanford alum, leverages her PTA influence and insider knowledge to bulldoze the path for her high-strung daughter. And Maren makes three: single, broke, and ill-equipped to battle the elite school community aligning to bring her superstar daughter down.

That's when, days before applications are due, one of the girls suffers a near-fatal accident, one that doesn't appear to be an accident at all.

As the community spirals out of control, three women will have to decide what lines they're willing to cross to secure their daughters' futures...and keep buried the secrets that threaten to destroy far more than just college dreams.

So great and timely!

As an Academic Counselor at a private school, I so enjoyed listening to this novel about the craziness that surrounds college admissions. While this is fiction, there are nuggets of truth throughout. I couldn't get through this novel fast enough and was sad when it ended.

Fun ride!

Loved this! I laughed, I got pissed, I cried, I was surprised… all of the things. Very Gossip Girl (which I LOVED) but still stood apart as it’s own story. Highly recommend!

The drama

The overall story line was very good and the drama definitely kept me interested. The characters were very well written and the dialogue allowed you to visualize the happenings.

Love this audio book!!

Great book, great listen! I pretty much listened to it straight through - I could not put it down! The plot was so interesting and the characters became so real and nuanced that I am still thinking about them. Wonderful writing - I can't wait to read more from these authors.

I also love the reader and her performance. She has a wonderful voice and uses inflection subtly and took on characters really convincingly. I will look for other performances by her!

Page turner!

This would be a great beach book — lives of struggle versus lives of the ultra rich. Private school college mania that goes ridiculously far.

Loved it!

After seeing so many glowing reviews of this book, I was excited for the release of the audiobook. It did not disappoint! Girls with Bright Futures is fast-paced and suspenseful with great characters and smart, engaging dialogue. Mia Barron’s narration brings the characters to life and the authors do an amazing job of keeping you hooked. What I loved most about this book, though, were the sharp, relatable, and irreverent observations on our cultural... So many great themes from wealth inequality and privilege to parental anxiety and self perception. Would make for a great book club book!

Great story! Well performed!

Super glad I didn’t read this when my kids were in high school! (Public school 🙀). But I did see/hear stories from my girls who did go to Vanderbilt about shocking tiger moms, and was aghast! Very entertaining peek into a world I knew existed, but hope the theatrics were elevated to help turn pages!!

loved it!

Who knew you could love a book so much when it was near impossible to like most of the characters half of the time. What a fun, eye opening, and terrifying ride into the Ivy League college admission process. Each character was fleshed out so well, it really felt like you were in the room listening to the all the drama. My heart went out to these children. Living in Silicon Valley, I can't attest to the fact that this type of pressure is very, very real, and starts well before the college admission process. I hope more people will read this book and it will make them reflect.

I was surprised by this book at every turn. I couldn't put it down! Laughed, cried, gasped, and shook my head in disbelief. Highly recommend!
