If you dont take it too seriously - its fun!

What made the experience of listening to Go-Go Girls of the Apocalypse the most enjoyable?

People dealing with - realistically - post war apocalypse. I have no illusions that "man is inherently good" (would like to think so ... ) and the situations presented prove that out.

If you’ve listened to books by Victor Gischler before, how does this one compare?

Haven't - this was my first.

Which scene was your favorite?

I really liked the story / plot twist when Mortimer figures out who "Joey" is. Quite a build up, not a let down, well delivered. Again, don't take this too seriously. Joey's economy is a bit optimistic.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Not at all. I put it down, bounced around between books.

Any additional comments?

The cover has little to do with the story.

Hillbilly Apocalypse

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Only if they were looking for something light and different to read.

What did you like best about this story?

The surprising turn of events and finding there is life after the apocalypse. I did like the references to places and locations in the Southeast US.

Which character – as performed by Scott Sowers – was your favorite?

I am not sure. Most of the characters sounded like they were on Green Acres or Hee Haw.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It was funny in many places.

Any additional comments?

It definitely wasn't a masterpiece but it was a nice light, enjoyable read between serious books.

Great apocalyptic ride from beginning to end

I got this book after listening to a sample of the narration. The narration was great and I was immediately hooked into the story of a dystonia world where the main character literally leaves his cave and learns how to cope and eventually survive. The best part of the book is the originality. It is adventurous and comical in so many ways. It is a must read for lovers of this genre.

Post-apocalypse with a touch of old west thrown in

I was a bit hesitant to buy this book, but now I am glad I did. I normally don't like "old west" so words like "cowboys" and "bandits" put me off. However, I took a chance on this one, and found it a suspenseful read. I think my favorite character is the female train captain, Tyler. My favorite scene is where Bill the cowboy rescues Mortimer from the Beast. It is the first time I have ever read a post-apocalypse book where they try to rebuild civilization starting from a go-go club. It is well worth a credit.

A fun romp through a changed world

Part post-apocalyptic survival novel, part dark comedy and part western, ‘Go-Go Girls of the Apocalypse” is a fun and exciting ride through a world ravened by war, natural disasters and economic meltdowns. The characters are quirky, unique and likable and overall this was just a fun book. I highly recommend it for any who likes action and adventure and is looking for a slight change of pace.

Mr. Sowers does a great job with all the characters and really adds to the enjoyment of the book.
