About this listen

The instant New York Times bestselling author of the “raw and revealing” (Interview magazine) Bad Mormon and breakout star of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City returns with a hilarious and candid national bestseller about life and love as a former Mormon, mother, and reality TV star.

In the “confident debut” (The Daily Beast) Bad Mormon, Heather Gay pulled back the veil on her orthodox adolescence and marriage in the Mormon Church, and the painful process of leaving it all behind. Becoming a successful business owner and reality TV star gave the single mom of three a second lease on life. After years of living in an insular bubble, Heather emerged bright-eyed, eager to take on the world…no matter how ill-equipped her upbringing might have left her.

Now, in this provocative and laugh-out-loud funny follow-up, the mother of three proves that she isn’t just a Bad Mormon—she’s also a Good Time Girl.

With her “thoughtful, smart, and funny” (Kirkus Reviews) writing, Heather recounts the humorous trysts, mishaps, and serendipitous success she’s found as a life-long reveler in all things indulgent. From illicit high school trips to Tijuana and awkward dates set up by her overzealous costars, Good Time Girl is a charming and intimate meditation on community, love, independence, womanhood, and—most importantly—second chances.

The True storyline

Loved this book... I actually have sat in the parking structure at my work or in my driveway at home with the lights out on the car just sitting there listening in complete silence, my family not even realizing I'm at home or the clock ticking in the office ... I thoroughly thoroughly enjoyed it.

Real

As a former LDS member and a RHOSLC fan…I am so proud of the raw, compassionate, hilarious, and relatable voice of H.G. I gobbled up (both) books when they debuted and I experienced all emotions to the core and have referred them to other women who have been members. If you weren’t LDS, her storytelling is like being wrapped in a warm blanket with a glass of wine. That temple name though…yikes.

Extraordinary Writing

Heather is brilliant. She is funny. She is self deprecating. She is genuine. Our world needs more Heathers.

Insightful Memoir

Just as Heather’s first book, this one too gives you access into a life that was definitely meant to be bigger than the confines of a bad marriage, mormonism and social rules. I find Heather’s reflections on her life so captivating,..an invitation to reflect on your own life and the pure potential that lies within all of ua.

I love this book!

This audiobook was perfection. Funny, heartfelt, and fantastically written, I loved every minute. Heather Gay has depth, wit, and is so relatable. I loved the throwbacks to the time when I also grew up! And I appreciated the vulnerability she showed recounting marriage and early parenthood. Also loved the fun behind the scenes of housewives! Heather Gay is an amazing writer and I couldn’t have loved this book more.

Honest and entertaining

Heather Gay is a great writer, using imaginative metaphors and entertaining phrases and stories. But that only goes so far. It's her honesty and genuineness that makes this an excellent book for me. Add to that the fact that I totally relate to her in so many ways, and you've got your five stars. I'm about to listen again from the beginning.
