Publisher's summary

Roxanne MacFarlane is the Extractor - a former CIA agent who specializes in rescuing people from dangerous situations. She lives on the edge and works outside the law, but desperate families know she's the only operative who can bring their missing loved ones home. Driven by guilt over the loss of her sister to a polygamous cult, she will stop at nothing to save her clients.

When Dave and Jenny Carson ask her to find their daughter, Emma, and extract her from a charismatic cult leader who preys on young women with guilt issues, Rox is eager to help them. But the experimental treatment she just started in order to improve her atypical brain patterns forces her to face conflicting newfound emotions while working feverishly to find the secret compound and craft a strategy to get Emma out.

When the bodies of young women who match Emma's description turn up, Rox must fast-forward her plans. But the situation is more complicated and dangerous than she realizes, and her own life is soon in jeopardy. Can Rox save Emma and bring down a ruthless predator before more young women fall victim?

Guilt Game

Very good read! I Liked the surprise near end. I liked that the main lead has some small flaws that did as to keep it interesting.

Not a great story.

the story was a little repetitive, and not really a page turner, I did think the reader did quite well.

Pretty good. I was pleasantly surprised with the book. And requiring 15 words? Really? Hmmm...

Excellent story and narration.

Rox is a PI that helps people with family trapped in cults. The loss of her sister from a cult spurs on her desire to help others. The title is right on target with this book. The characters were interesting and consistent. I really enjoyed the suspense and mystery of this book.

Fast Paced

Guilt Game kept my attention and had a good steady pace that kept me wondering what was next. The main character has her quirks that kept it interesting yet readers are taken on her journey of change with her. Overall, a great listen for me!

pass on this

I got this for free, but still couldn't finish it. Every cop cliche known to man, the narrator is painfully mediocre and her male voices are laughably bad. Just skip it.

Start of an interesting new series?

Guilt Game is a very good suspense thriller by prolific self published author L.J. Sellers. I suspect that it is the first book of what will be her Extractor series. Protagonist Roxanne (Rox) MacFarlane is a 40ish ex-cop and ex-CIA agent who now works out of her native Oregon rescuing people from dangerous situations. That usually means she is paid by parents of young adults to "extract" their teenagers from cults. In this book Emma Carson is lured a non-religious cult because she cannot handle her personal guilt.

Protagonist Rox MacFarlane is an interesting character who has high performing autism. She is dealing with guilt of her own. She is dating a cop. She also rents part of his house from her step-father an ex-cop who is also her best friend.

This new release has a customer rating of 4.9 stars at Amazon.

Narrator Teri Schnaubelt does an excellent job as usual.

Audio Book Stops Playing

I was unable to finish the book as the audio will not play past 42 minutes. I tried several times, but unfortunately I couldn't even skip chapter 3. It just says "NaN:00:NaN" and refuses to play.
