Publisher's summary

USA TODAY best-selling author Natasha Brown blends urban fantasy, paranormal romance, and supernatural suspense in the Half-Bloods, an adventure for lovers of shifters, vampires...and more.

Jax never stays anywhere long enough to put down roots. He’s a shapeshifter - the only one of his kind, or so he thinks. While prowling on his landlady’s property, he is stunned to find a man feeding on her neck. Although he frightens away the blood-sucker, Jax leaves behind a paralyzed woman and a trail of blood in his wake.

Aerilyn teaches high school and doubles as a guardian for the Genus Society, an ancient underground shifter organization. After learning of a cougar attack in her own mountain neighborhood, she suspects a rogue shifter is to blame.

When the Society accuses Jax of the “animal attack,” he is ordered to stick around until he can clear his name. Desperate to regain his freedom, he must put his trust in his beautiful guardian. Their forbidden attraction leads Aerilyn to wonder if the blue-eyed drifter is innocent. And if he is, the Society has an even bigger problem on its hands - one that feeds on blood.

Interesting Paranormal Story!

This was my first Natasha Brown's book. Jax and Aerilyn's story is well written, and the storyline is intriguing. The narration is well done. Daniel McColly has a great voice, easy to understand. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

A perfect mix or fantasy and romance

A misfit, a guardian who wants who she shouldn't want and a mysterious stranger who may or may not be guilty of a horrible crime. All these things together make for an intriguing story filled with lots of interesting characters who will surprise you at each turn. The mystery unfolds and a forbidden love occurs making Jax reconsider what and where he wants to be in his life and who he will have standing beside him. Such a great paranormal romance and lots of mystery to boot. I highly recommend giving it a listen.

Great book, very entertaining!!

A nice change to the paranormal genre. The author creates a wonderful story line, allowing the readers(listeners) mind to fill with vivid imagery as the story progresses. It creates a nice paranormal world, without getting deep and dark. I look forward to the next book in the series to see where the story goes from here!

Great Start!

This book was really good and I loved the cover! Natasha did an amazing job with the world building, character development, and story line. Aerilyn and Jax’s relationship is bumpy, but really sweet. Even though I love YA, it was refreshing to not have to read about insta-love or all of the teenage angst. I liked the Genus Society and how they were in charge of the shifter world, but never knew of other paranormal beings was a twist. Daniel did an okay job of narrating, but I wish that he had put more emotion and passion into his performance because it felt very monotone for the majority of the book. I couldn’t fully put myself into the story like I normally can with an audiobook and it was kind of disappointing. He did read at a steady pace that was easy to keep up with and kept the story flowing smoothly until the halfway point when it felt more rushed every now and then. Overall, I do recommend this book and want to continue the series!

Half blood

It was great to see how jax came into a family! A loner who is discovered by his own people. The fight scenes were intense but not to gory. Over all great book
