About this listen

There are three things you need to know about Fiona Archer...I would tell you what they are, but then I'd have to kill you.

But I can tell you that Fiona's husband - the always irrepressible and often cantankerous Greg Archer - is desperately in love with his wife. He aches for her when they are apart, and is insatiable when they are together. Yet as the years pass, Greg has begun to suspect that Fiona is a ninja. A ninja mom. A ninja wife. A ninja friend. After 14 years of marriage, Greg is trying not to panic. Because Fiona's talent for blending in is starting to resemble fading away.

However, when unexpected events mean Fiona must take center stage to keep her family safe, her response stuns everyone - Greg most of all. It seems like Greg's wish has come true.

Except...not.

When all is said and done, can Greg handle this new version of his wife? Will his irrepressible cantankerousness push her away? Or can the couple find a way forward without either being forced to step back into the shadows?

It was interesting seeing Greg and Fi in all their dysfunction. I love at the end where they are working together to be a better partnership. The last chapter I listened to threw me off as it was for someone else's story in this series, but I think it glitched as it didn't specify anything before it went right into it.

An Absolute Adventure

Admittedly, I am new to audio books, bu I have to say that Em Eldridge is the best narrator for voices of both sexes. Her expressiveness made listening a joy.

Great narration!

I prefer to listen to a story more than once before reviewing it and I must say, I enjoyed the “Knitting In The City” series just as much the second time as the first. Between Penny’s wit in and of daily life and the fantastic narrations of each and every narrator she has chosen, the stories were each a belly laugh and a captivating story.
Kudos 👍🏻 to everyone involved in the making of these audiobooks.
😣 I do have one complaint. Why O why are the women referred to as “girls”??? Are the males “boys” ? If we are discussing “girls and boys” should they be in an adult romance story??

Great 👍🏻 story

Love ain't easy. Even though Fiona and Greg love each other they still have to work out the day to day-relatable! They are one bad ass couple. Greg with his biting sarcasm and whit is so entertaining . The narrator's reprrsentation of Greg is spot on (imagine said in a British accent). Once again all the characters from the series are wrapped in. I LOVE this series.

Enduring Love

I am a big fan of the romance genre no doubt. But it will not be an absolute surprise that most of the characters in the novels are between age of 22 to 31 in average. That is why I find this book so special and interesting because the romance is told from a point of view of spouses which are in long term committed marriage relationships and have kids. So the situation as really different then two young bachelor. I am happy that Penny Reid is a writer that creates out of the box and not following the main stream.

Finally a story about a mature married couple

Another great addition to the series. Penny Reid has created her own MCU but included yarn!!

This one kept me on the edge of my seat. I thought they’d divorce or someone was dying. I felt Fiona’s “mom exhaustion “ that broke my heart. Greg’s love and devotion his absolute fear of losing her left me hoping the book would never end.

S.H.I.E.L.D who?

Hmmm…my least favorite of the Knitting series books. I didn’t like Greg that much…and really their son is a genius piano player?? But still love the series nonetheless.

Pretty okay

Wonderful addition to Penny's Reid's Knitting in the City series. One learns more about Fiona and Greg and their marriage. Very relatable if you've been in a long term marriage. However Ms. Reid goes about telling their story in a fun, unique way.

Fiona & Greg's story

After the inevitable HEA in romance novels, we assume that the couple faces no challenges and float along on clouds of happiness. This book is perfect in that there are challenges that are addressed that highlight a healthy way to overcome differences. Do they make mistakes? Yes. Do they talk things through and work together to overcome their issues? Yes. This book, detailing Fiona and Greg's relationship was beautifully done and my favorite of the series. The ninja aspect comes from the fact that Fiona is a prior CIA agent. Greg is ex-military. So this couple faces issues a normal couple doesn't. But that only adds a new dimension of fun to the story. This is a well rounded, fun but so so touching story.

I listened to the audiobook (purchased) and felt it was done really well. Em Eldridge and Will M. Watt were fantastic and played their roles and the supporting roles really well. I enjoyed the narration.

Excellent story about a married couple
