About this listen

He’s fighting for justice while she fights for her life.

With his daughter lying in the hospital, struck down in a reckless hit-and-run, the only thing Jon Reznick can do is wait—and plot his revenge. Not satisfied with the slow-moving police investigation, he starts his own manhunt.

He discovers that the car belongs to a high-ranking diplomat whose interests are closely tied to those of the United States government, and this man may not be what he appears. The FBI wants Reznick to back down, but the more information Jon digs up, the more questions he finds. Was it a simple accident, or is there more to it? How many young women’s lives has this man ruined? Lauren’s life hangs in the balance, and Jon must get answers, no matter the cost—to him or the government.

With the help of a dedicated NYPD detective who has suspicions of her own, as well as FBI Assistant Director Martha Meyerstein, Jon Reznick will have to fight for his daughter while she fights for her life.

I didn't want it to end.

Each one seems better than the last. I can't wait until the next one. Should there not be a next one... I'll be over here crying in my hard lemonade. If you missed the previous books of this series and decide to start with this one you will love it nonetheless. It can certainly hold it own. However, you will be listening to them next anyway. I have 800+ books in my library this series and/or this book is in my top ten.

Good book.

I like Reznick, no bullshit. Just right and wrong. I like the way the other main characters are developing, too. The main bad guy here was really easy to hate. I enjoyed reading this book.

Very good continuation

By all means you need to read these books in order. By doing so you connect the dots so much easier than without it. It is a great suspenseful ride. I will definitely read the next book and be sad when the series has ended.

Hooked Me From The Start

Very rarely do books about (trying to come up with a good adjective here)… people like Jon Reznick can tear at your heartstrings – especially from the opening chapters. Within about 2-3 chapters Hard Hit (extremely well named) did that to me and I was already hooked. I’ve read other books in this series but this one just felt different.

There was a lot more at stake, personally, for Reznick and it made this book (series and characters) just that little bit deeper. I was able to forge that gap between a character and a character that I definitively wanted things to work out for. Reznick has done things for the government before – but this time it was personal (and not the super cheesy it’s not really personal but it is).

Hard Hit… hit on all cylinders for me. It got me emotionally but it also had great pacing and a great story behind it. The bad guy, once we figured out who they were, was easy to hate. And it just snowballed from there. Reznick uncovers more and more about this person – but cannot do anything about it.

The last third or so (trying really hard not to spoil it) where the new connection was made was extra special for me. It just added in a new layer and I’m a little curious if Turner is going to use that again in upcoming Reznick books.

Overall, a thrill-ride from beginning to end. One that’ll have you unsure of what will happen, but also rooting for the good guy to win in the end.

Running Scared

JR is brilliant. Nevers steps back, never questions his motivations, and never apologizes to anyone, including himself. He is honesty and integrity with a Glock 19 and now his daughter is threatened by the worst kind of bad guy. The bad guy that he has promised not to "damage" or even expose to the light. Should have used capture and exposure of grampa Brutkin to torment bad guy Brutkin. Love the hacker, still waiting for the surprise with this guy, though.

Another Great Thriller!

If you love fast paced action and lots of thrill, then this is the right book and book series for you. Jon is simple in his ideas of justice yet a very complex character.
Perfect quick read for the summer. Can’t wait till the next book.
Narration was perfect!

Great story, satisfying ending

Narration authentic for all dialects. No unnecessary sex. Violent and some gore, but appropriate to story.

Seriously, J. B. Turner, you just keep getting better and better! This is an excellent story, a keeper, in my book! And, Mr Kafer, excellent narration!
