About this listen

These selected terrors range from the speculative to supernatural horror, encompass the infernal and the occult, and include stories inspired by H. P. Lovecraft, Robert Aickman, and Ramsey Campbell.

Hasty for the Dark is the second short story collection from the award-winning and widely appreciated British writer of horror fiction, Adam L. G. Nevill. The author's best horror stories from 2009 to 2015 are collected here for the first time.

The hardest journeys in life and death are taken underground.

No blackmail is as ghastly as extortion from angels.

A swift reckoning often travels in handheld luggage.

Once considered inhumane and now derelict, this zoo may not be as empty as assumed.

A bad marriage, a killer couple, and part of a wider movement.

No sign of life aboard an abandoned freighter, but what is left below deck tells a strange story.

The origin of our species is not what we think.

In destitution, the future for revolution and mass murder is so bright.

Your memories may not be your own, and your life nothing more than a ritual that will compel you to perform an atrocity….

Good but not gonna be confused for great.

I enjoyed listening to this, although I never found one story that truly knocked me off my feet and enthralled me. Not a waste of time worth a listen for sure good author, and narrator is for sure good. good stories not great., but worth a listen anytime.if you’re looking to be taken away to another place, this is not a spaceship. There will be no lift off the ground , but it could be a good bus ride.

Good Narrator, Bad Stories

It was all I could do to finish listening to the stories in the book. They did not hold my interest. Had it not been for the narrator, I would have stopped listening after the first story.

When you want to like it but you just can't

The stories are very interesting and intriging but Sweet Jesus is it hard to focus on them. The vocabulary befits the Victorian-like which just has you tuning out at even critical moments. That is not to say the stories arent eerie, suspenseful, or creative. If only they weren't fogged by the language.
