Publisher's summary

Chef Angie Turner of The County Seat - Idaho's finest farm-to-table restaurant - is preparing a private dinner in the mountains during ski season, but the trip's about to go downhill....

It's a rockin' New Year for Angie and her crew as they cater a bash for a famous band-and as a bonus, they'll get to stay at the singer's Sun Valley house for a whole week once the party's over. But there are hints of discord, and the event hits a sour note when one of the musicians is found with a drumstick in his chest.

Is this a case of creative differences turned lethal or is there another motive at play? Angie's jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire as she and her fellow foodies try to solve the case before the killer comes out for an encore.

More books please

If you were not so good I would not use a whole credit to listen to a short book.

Good cozy mystery

Great cozy mystery. Both the author and the narrator kept me invested from the first chapter. With a number of twists and turns and a result I didn’t see coming, I was hooked. Cannot wait to read and or listen to more from this author.

Dead Rock Star on New Year's

The Farm-to-Fork Series is one of my favorites and I was excited to see this one which finds the crew of The County Seat holed up for New Year's at an old rock band's lavish home for a reunion to cater for the group. Once the weekend is over they will get to stay for a week and plan menus and rejuvenate. However, tensions are high as egos rage and tempers flare between the band members, their significant others and their support staff, so much so that everyone is doubting if the reunion tour is such a good idea after all. With the first dinner under their belt and everyone finally retreated to their rooms, Angie and her staff try to unwind. However, that doesn't last for long. Because one of the band is soon found nearly dead with a drum stick protruding from his chest. 😨 Not only that, they are facing one of the worst snow storms to hit the region in years. This is a great mystery, filled with the folks that I love from The County Seat. My biggest complaint is that it is only a little over two hours long and not worth the cost. If I had caught that, I wouldn't have bought it.

A nice novella

The pacing of "Have a Deadly New Year” is perfect for a novella, maintaining a steady rhythm that keeps the reader engaged from start to finish without feeling rushed. And while the murder mystery is the central focus, the exploration of the characters' personal relationships adds depth and richness to the overall narrative. I only wished it was a little more festive.

A brief Whodunit

Short and sweet with plenty of thrills and literal chills. I definitely felt vibes of Clue and Death By Murder with this one. Very enjoyable and the narrator did a decent job giving each character, however minor, their own tone of voice. Perfect little filler
