About this listen

A man who's moved to New York City, taking nightly walks through its neighborhoods for inspiration, instead finds only despair, until one night another, "He", finds him and shows him other sides of New York by flashing back and forth through time from the alien pasts through alien futures in a terror-filled journey.

a monster in the night

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I think it was a decent short story. A great pick if you want to listen to something creepy.. especially so close to halloween. Its basically a story of a man who on one of his night walks has an encounter with someone/something sinister.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the storytelling aspect of it all.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I actually did listen to it in one sitting, since it was short. Again like other books narrated by K.Anderson I would recommend listening to it somewhere quiet so you can get the full breath of the story/background effects. Mostly because real world noise can easily drown out the narrators voice at times - especially when he talks in a lower voice or if the acoustics/sounds from the audio are at times too strong. This is one of those stories where I have a craving to listen to again. Just in case I may have missed something.

This book was gifted to me from the author through audiobook blast in return for an unbiased and honest review.

Creepy Historical Lovecraft Story

Would you listen to He again? Why?

I would, because it was short and creepy and had a pretty good pay off in the same way that many of Lovecraft's stories do.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked the narrator, but that's because Lovecraft's stories aren't known for having many characters who aren't the unknown narrator.

Which scene was your favorite?

At the end when the story comes full circle with the present and the past.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not really, but it's not the kind of story that I was looking for that from either. It was really entertaining and that's all I wanted from it.

Any additional comments?

I received the code for this for free in exchange for an honest review. It's a creepy portrayal of a Lovecraftian tale and like the others I've had the pleasure of listening to did a great job of bringing the story to a different more cinematic plane. Recommended for sure.
