Truly LOVE yourself again!!

David Elliott has a HUGE heart!! In this book he spares no expense when it comes to LOVE & COMPASSION. "Healing" opened up my heart and soul to something I have been searching for my entire life...freedom from the pain and suffering caused by trauma and seeking for love outside of myself. I felt stuck. Upon listening to "Healing" I quickly found myself enlightened and immersed into the first section, "The Crucible" where I learned about love, exchange, ego and addiction. I dove into "The Work" in Section 2 which segued right into the third section on healing myself. Listening to this book has not only changed the course of my life, but also saved it. Open your heart to this book, feel the flow of universal energy and ascend into your higher self!

Deep Healing

This book is life changing. I have listened to it over and over again and each time I hear something in a deeper way. The exercises in the book and very helpful and the breathwork has become my daily spiritual practice.

Life Changing

One of the most powerful books on self love ever written. I've read, partially read or listened to some of the greatest hits in this genre. This, IMO, is the most effective. In the same way a person with a broken leg can't walk until it is healed, we are blocked from properly loving ourselves till we do the healing work. The book title is on the nose…one word. Healing. Warning to the listener - you will need to do work. This is not the audiobook to play on a long drive, or to keep you distracted while you are doing other activities. It IS Healing. You will spend time writing, meditating, and doing deep soul identity work. Because of the importance of this work, I also bought the physical book - but hearing David speak his own words is well worth the investment. His voice is honest, confident, vulnerable, powerful, and patient. Never once is he preachy yet he emits the loving wisdom of the great father/mother. Doing this book (beyond just listening) could possibly be one of the most self loving acts you'll ever do!

boring and annoying book

I cannot bring myself to finish this book. Author reads his book in such an arrogant manner, that is irritates me beyond tolerance.

not good as an audiobook

Probably much better as a physical book. Too boring and impractical to do exercises from audio. I did not realize this was more of a workbook.

To summarize the book: Find ways to love yourself and increase love. It will take lots of discipline, energy and time.

This is a man who, lovely as he may be in his person and message, says that he has always loved himself, not perfectly at times, but always. You do not feel this way unless your parents or caregivers loved you well enough first, so all these exercises just built upon and increased his capacity for self-love which was already there. It may be different for others.

I am not defeatest. I think self-love is paramount, but there are other ways. If you have a history of trauma or you don't love yourself, you can absolutely look to the environment in which you were raised. I suggest Pete Walker's books, Bessel Van Der Kolk's books and some of the newer understandings of the polyvagal nerve which are starting to be written about.

My two cents:
Stop all the "No one else can love you until you love yourself first" nonsense (it is unequivocally untrue, many people find love for themselves after receiving love from someone else and learn to see themselves from another viewpoint not their own. There are many people who may see you as loveable even if you do not see yourself that way.) Having someone look at you lovingly and with compassion will heal more than a thousand journal exercises. Find someone who will do this even if you have to pay a therapist. It is recursive. If you find people who value you you will value yourself and if you value yourself you will find others who value you.

And if you are struggling at the moment with other life overwhelm or loss or too many decisions to make etc you probably will not have the umph to do the exercises without a teacher/counselor to check in with. There is no shame in this—90% of all fitness programs bought are never even opened—most people need other people and social accountability to be and remain motivated at least until something is internalized as a habit. Doing lots of emotionally challenging exercises without support is really untenable for most people. All the self-help stuff never seems to acknowledge this.
