About this listen

For the Rangers, the best defense is always...more offense.

As an overwhelming army of skeletons, wraiths, ghouls, and other dark creatures - all serving a powerful undead sorcerer - advance against Forward Operating Base Hawthorn, the Rangers must now do what they do best: Go on the extreme offense.

It’s time to Hit and Fade. Attack, withdraw, and outmaneuver the enemy.

PFC Talker, attached to the weapons team section of a Ranger recon patrol led by Captain Knife Hand, recounts the harrowing attempt to destabilize this surreal and horrific nightmare force with everything the snipers, master breachers, and stone-cold killers of the Ranger regiment have in their bag of lethal tricks.

Abating, channelizing, and leading the enemy into a series of devastating traps involving everything from kinetically violent ambushes to immensely explosive crater munitions, the Rangers strike at the enemy as death personified, fading like ghosts only when the dead are dead once again.

When facing Rangers, even nightmares are afraid.

Love it

Unlike most books, I seem to lack the ability to stop listening. as soon as this story started I could not get enough. The world building in this series is some of my favorite and the main character Talker is relatable to a non vet like me when he goes into his mild case of imposter syndrome. I think talker is in my top 5 main characters of any series, he's a GOOD person you just can't help but root for. it's hard to come up with criticism for this book on my end, if you are like me and enjoy the Jason/Nick action storytelling you should enjoy this book and I reccomend it.

Also good job to narration, I legitimately forget it is the same guy narrating at points.

it was good but got annoyed by coffee

I don't have much to say on the negative other than I got legit annoyed hearing about coffee addiction... and that's coming from a coffee shop owner.

MORE!

I NEED MORE! Much like the first book this one just hits the ground running and kills everything in its path leaving a wake of dead mystical beings and victorious Rangers leading the way in a ruined world.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was my kind of action, aside from the weird monster and wizard side of it. This was a good story and I can wait until the next one. Good job.

Excellent story of the far side of apocalypse

Great narration. The viewpoint character is both amusing and empathetic. The action is non-stop but not mindless. The world building is well done and builds well on the first book. 5 stars 🌟 would highly recommend.

It’s okay to skip ahead.

The story is good, save yourself the time and just skip ahead when the word “Coffee” is mentioned or pointless exposition starts. It does nothing to advance the story and you can save yourself time better spent towards continuing the series.
