About this listen

Cleo Coyle serves up a yuletide treat in her Coffeehouse Mystery novel Holiday Buzz, a New York Times best seller.

Holiday time is party time in New York City, but after a sparkling winter bash ends with a murder, Village Blend coffeehouse manager Clare Cosi vows to put the killer on ice.

At the Great New York Cookie Swap, pastry chefs bake up their very best for charity. Clare is in charge of the beverage service, and her famous Fa-la-la-la Lattes make the gathering even merrier. But her high spirits come crashing down when she discovers the battered body of a hard-working baker's assistant. Police suspect a serial attacker whose escalating crimes have become known as "the Christmas Stalkings". Clare'sboyfriend, NYPD detective Mike Quinn, finds reason to believe even more sinister forces are involved. Clare isn't so sure, until she finds a second bludgeoned baker and becomes a target herself. Now Clare must investigate "Saint Nick", crash a pro-hockey party, and dodge a pair of reality TV divas - because she's not going to rest until justice is served.

Gibel is great!

Rebecca Gibel is an exceptional narrator! Her array of voices is amazing. The story is good but Cleo Coyle is very preachy and includes far more detail than is needed, unless you want to learn how to roast coffee beans and prepare the perfect espresso.

Who dun it...?

Usually holiday books for a series are forced and not that good. That is not the case with this cozy. I was immediately hooked by Clair and friends. As she makes coffees for a variety of holiday parties she doesn't plan on finding the body of one of her part-time employees and then the murder of a baker. I was quickly sucked into attempting to figure out “who dun nit and way”.

It borders on slap stick at the end but still worth the time/read. It was enjoyable and does not have to be read only at holiday time.

Super Cozy-ish Mystery

This mystery novel has the most interesting and wonderful characters included in it. The baristas alone make the the story as I would definitely go to this coffee shop just sit and talk with them. The story was a bit lengthy and probably could have been shortened a bit. This is a series and my first. I don’t feel like I missed out on anything by not starting at the beginning so in my opinion it could be a standalone.

Cookies can be murder

Clare Cozy and almost all of our favorite Village Blend Coffeehouse characters are back in a holiday mystery while they are celebrating with cookie events with cookies from around the world. Moirin is a new young Irish employee that everyone enjoys. She bakes the cookies for the coffeehouse, but actually works at the bakery that developed the cookies. She's a music lover too, but sadly, she's bludgeoned to death at a cookie festival event. Clare found her body and is determined to find her killer with a little help from her boyfriend, family, and her baristas.

I love this series for so many reasons. The Cleo Coyle writing team always adds numerous interesting facts, local information, and yummy sounding recipes to their mysteries. In this one, there are added characters that are a take off from reality TV that are a laugh and a half. The mystery is compelling with clues on every page. We also hear more and more about Clare's love life with her, Detective Mike Quinn, who is on a secret duty in Washington, DC. One of my very favorite cozies done in audio. The spoken accents add so much to my enjoyment of this series. Looking forward to the new one in this series coming in November 2014.

Another Great Book!

I'm really getting into this series. My first book listened to was Brewed Awakening. Which I didn't realize at the time was the latest released book in the series. I have the Audible Plus membership so I'm enjoying this new age amateur detective "Jessica Fletcher" style mysteries. Where ever there's a dead body to be had Claire is not to far behind. I just wish the author would get Claire a PI License. I think that with every book in this series I listen to. The twist and turns in finding the killer in this book had me thinking I needed Robert Stack to help me solve this mystery.

Another great Cosi Mystery

I have enjoyed every one of the Coffeehouse Mysteries on audiobooks. The narrator, Rebecca Gibel is awesome!

In this book, Claire Cosi's Irish immigrant barista is murdered during their annual Christmas cookie swap and Claire will leave no stone unturned to find her barista's killer and bring him or her to justice.

A Cozy Listen

The narrator is AMAZING! She pulled me into the story - I felt like I was listening to her tell me a story, not read me a book. She differentiated the character voices so much, I checked more than once to see if there were multiple narrators. So in that sense the story and dialog must be authentically written.
This was my first Coffeehouse Mystery, and the characters were well introduced and identified. I picked it for the holiday theme and was not disappointed. I loved the integration of coffee and food!
The mystery ran throughout, and it was not so scary I could not listen at night!
Fun holiday listen for errands, wrapping, and online shopping. I definitely will look for more books in this series!
