Disappointing & Boring

Read the actual works that define Holmes, Marple & Poe or even a season of Law & Order or Psych as opposed to this weak/bland police (P.I.) procedural. None of the characters are likable, nor do they exhibit a fragment of depth, intelligence or charisma associated with their namesakes. Writers called it in. Narrator was good given the boring work she had to troll through. Purchased due to previous reviews. Sad to say, not my cup of tea. To break it down: Holmes is a drug addict & is suicidal. Poe likes to sleep around but is still obsessed with his dead S&M girlfriend from 10 years ago. Marple has a British accent. None of them really care about justice, just their own desires to be in the limelight. Just bleh!

Wrapped in the guise of old time sleuths, this modern day take is very enjoyable.

Loved it all. Marveled how the story entwined past and present references. Fascinating and unique cases need solved. And humor is peppered throughout. That makes a perfect book for me!

Yay! A good one!

I've had so many duds lately, it's been discouraging, but! This is gooood! Fun. Great narration made it easy to tell who was talking, great inflection, great voices.

Dynamic read.

Enjoyed the different characters and the narrator added great dynamic to the story with their ability to change voices as they portrayed each character in the story.

Boring

What a great idea, teaming up these 3 famous characters. Really was hoping for a home run. But not this book. Would love to see a second that worked.🤷‍♀️

I liked the characters.

It seems like it jumped around to all the characters in the story. Didn't know who was written about next.

Great start to the series

I am a fan of Patterson. I have read every Sherlock Holmes mystery published. I also read most of Poe’s works and am a huge fan of Agatha Christie. This was a great novel to introduce the new series and for the reader to get to know the three main characters. It was an easy read and not very involved, The literary level is very basic. I hope we get more. background details of each character in the future. The narration was excellent and very easy to follow. Quick read for commuters or non readers.

Incoherent

Character development and dialog were not great. As a Holmes, Marple fan it lacked sophistication. Characters that are so smart would never express themselves as they do I. This book.

Not the best Patterson

I found this book mediocre at best. The story rambled on and integrated three different agendas. The primary characters were not well developed and confused the story in areas. There’s better work to spend your money on.
