A good start for a new series

This is volume one in the new series of books under the umbrella title of Holmes, Marple, and Poe. The set up is three private investigators with the same last names as famous literary detectives form a high end detective agency in modern New York City. Their backgrounds are mysterious but they are each brilliant in their own ways. Multiple cases cross their paths in this first book, each highlighting something of their individual natures. Not all in their natures is always pretty however. Holmes suffers from addictions similar to his namesake. Poe drinks heavily and mourns the loss of a past love. Marple is highly empathetic and feels, perhaps too much, particularly when young women are the victim.

Honestly, this feels a bit like a television show, albeit a well written one. Bad things do happen to good people, but these three will ensure that the perpetrators won't be free for long. Justice will prevail for their clients, if not necessarily for themselves. I look forward to the next installment. You should too.

Great Team

The main characters were very close friends and supported each others working style. They cared about the people they worked for and with.

Mystery

I did not enjoy so many side stories. It made it very hard to keep track of any main story. It could have been one half as long without the many. many extra adjectives that were NOT NEEDED!

Nicely done.

This was a great, but simple story. Good references to the original characters. Several mysteries that were for the most part wrapped up by the end. It feels like this was a one-shot, but the authleft it open to for sequels. Hopefully, it'll be considered. i look forward to more from Holmes, Marple, and Poe.

The diversity of the three.

l loved it, smart, yet realistic characters and plot. The ending left enough room for a sequel.
