About this listen

The police can't help you....

Former Marine helicopter pilot Jack Morgan runs Private, a renowned investigation company with branches around the globe. It is where you go when you need maximum force and maximum discretion. The secrets of the most influential men and women on the planet come to Jack daily - and his staff of investigators uses the world's most advanced forensic tools to make and break their cases.

The press will destroy you....

Jack is already deep into the investigation of a multi-million dollar NFL gambling scandal and the unsolved slayings of 18 schoolgirls when he learns of a horrific murder close to home: his best friend's wife, Jack's former lover, has been killed. It nearly pushes him over the edge. Instead, Jack pushes back and devotes all of Private's resources to tracking down her killer.

Only one place to turn: Private....

But Jack doesn't have to play by the rules. As he closes in on the killer and chooses between revenge and justice, Morgan has to navigate a workplace love affair that threatens to blow the roof off his plans. With a plot that moves at death-defying speeds, Private is James Patterson's sleekest, most exciting thriller ever.

A MODERN GREEK HERO

Patterson creates a modern Greek Hero with private eye Jack Morgan. Morgan is the quintessential modernization of Achilles who places honor above love or money.

PRIVATE indulges machismo in a rapid fire presentation of three criminal cases solved by a private investigation company run by Jack Morgan. Morgan is an ex-marine hero troubled by PTSD from service in Afghanistan. He despises his dead father for being abusive, innately dishonest, and coldly calculating in raising his twin sons. In contrast, Jack's twin brother idolizes their father by suggesting he prepared them for life in a dog-eat-dog world.

Patterson cleverly introduces Jack as a lover who cannot commit to love but covets the sensual pleasures of women. Jack's conflicted view of women reinforces stereotypes of the love'em and leave'em philosophy evident in Ford's THE SPORTSWRITER.

Excellent narration, rapid fire action, and suspenseful confrontations make PRIVATE highly entertaining if not entirely plausible; i.e just like stories of ancient Greek heroes.

No can do.

I may give this another try later on. It just is not interesting. Too much of nothing happening.

Enjoyed the audiobook

Great story, but I could have done without the music. It was loud, and seemed like it was just there to fill time.

Narrator Horrible

He is so distracting with his nasal voice, that I have not been able to get past 10 chapters, without beginning again!

It took me 5 tries to get past 3.

I still have no clue, what this story is about!

I love James Patterson, but this has to be 2nd worse book I have ever listened to!!!

Yuck!

I will continue to try though, as I hate to waste money!

Not a great story

I didn't care for the writing style. It was written like a bad made for TV series. Lots of celebrity name dropping and the subjects were just shy of super human, yadda yadda yadda

Enjoyed it as a Patterson First Timer

Well written and the narrator was excellent. Plot held your interest and the main character Jack was believable.

Narrator

I would have liked to have two voices since it was also written by a woman. The narrator was kinda of boring so it lost some of the excitement for me

Very masculine

As a 60 year old female, the sports made my eyes glaze over. It's still a good book though.

Good read

Quick read. Nothing different from the latest Patterson novels. I am a fan but wish for something different
