Publisher's summary

Veena Lion and Cooper Lamb are rival PIs in Philadelphia in this “fun ride…the romance between Cooper and Veena is artfully handled...endearing characters including Cooper’s two preternaturally clever kids and his Rhodesian ridgeback puppy.” –Publishers Weekly

“Great storytelling…a spectacular murder case.” –Kirkus, starred review

The city is in a state of shock over the fate of two hometown heroes: Eagles starting quarterback Archie Hughes, and his even more famous wife, Grammy-winning singer Francine Hughes.

One spouse is murdered. The other is suspect #1.

Even before the case hits the courtroom, it’s the hottest ticket in town.

For the defense: Cooper Lamb, private investigator to the stars.

For the prosecution: Veena Lion, a sleuth so bright she’s got to wear shades.

Between them, they know every secret in Philadelphia. Together, they prove how two wrongs can make a right. They are Lion & Lamb.

Critic reviews

“There’s an inherent satisfaction we get from murder mystery stories that feature entirely clever, yet diametrically opposed, but still wildly attracted to each other detective types. It scratches an itch. I should know—I’m somewhat of an expert. (On murder stories, not itches.) Patterson once again takes us on a wild ride that keeps us turning pages to see if we’re all as smart as the characters in his story.”—Nathan Fillion

“A classic game of cat and mouse.”—BookReporter

Worst of all Patterson books

Could not stay interested. Characters shallow. Dialogue silly. Story line predictable. Not interested in having any follow up of these characters

Different

I listened to the entire story and I am glad it turned out the way it did. The narration sometimes got under my skin and I would have picked different narrators entirely, but it was ok. I love Patterson and get sucked into his stories. This one just walked to a different beat.

Good story

Good story poorly told , to much lion said , lamb said, parts of the book had too much depth and detail where it wasn’t needed.

Narration chops up story

It may just be my ADD but I cannot enjoy narrator interrupting to announce each character before they speak…Lion..Hall etc. I have loved dozens of James Patterson novels but cannot enjoy this! I did not listen very long but story is interesting.

Good story

Lots of twists and turns. I liked it. Started slow but finished strong. Eventually everything fell into place.

story was good but the dictation style was very di

I stuck with it, but did not like the transcript style that the story is told in. I thought the characters were good and the story kept me guessing til the end.

Good story

Good story, terribly produced. Audio version was incredibly overdramatized. Sounded like a kids Disney movie or after school special.

The transcript format detracts from the story

There are too many conversations in "transcript" form, which was cute for the first conversation. But it is too distracting from what may or may not be a good story.

Sad

Long and boring. Worst Patterson book ever. I’ll be more careful in the future…..want my credit back….
