The Directness

I will listen to this book over and over again. I give this book all 5’s … I don’t leave reviews very much and I messed up my first review because it didn’t put all fives like I wanted. Then I read the other reviews that were did complaining about cussing, and I got confused. This author is straightforward and yeah, there’s a bit of cussing, but it’s the style it’s straightforwardness, It’s the honesty, the rawness of this books topic. I also liked the “tug of war”addition and the editor is correct, kindly speaking. Doc, you did awesome! Speaking truth and sharing this information for those of us who work in this type of environment where you can’t take 10 steps and can’t help but to run into someone like this … Now, I have tools on how to deal with these people. Thank you and thank you to my Daughter!!!

Disappointed

Voice is hard to listen to, felt like yelling.
The cursing was inappropriate. The use of language is a skill and there are so many words, I think one can elevate themselves from profanity. Content needs to be tightened, it rambled.

"Everyone I don't like is a narcissist"

The author tries very hard to be relatable, and I have to give credit to the author+VA for committing to her role. The reading was sincere and not phoned in, I'll give it that.

The book gets so close to having a unique and educated contribution to a complicated and frustrating discussion on a harmful personality disorder, only to sabotage itself with "it's okay because I'm punching up" brand racism, sexism, and cisphobia. Many of the behaviors pointed out are more "annoying but human" rather than "pervasive patterns indicative of a psychological issue".

This book feels like a collaborative effort between an actual professional, and a social media troll with a gigantic chip on their shoulder, where the latter had the most creative control, and the former was desperately trying to inject real insight whenever permitted.

Disappointed

I don’t know what exactly I was expecting from this book, but what I got wasn’t anything I was hoping to get from it. I was hoping the book would go more into depth on things and provide more proactive strategies of dealing with narcissism. Normally I’m not one to complain about swearing but there was an overwhelming amount that honestly was more prevalent than the overall message the author attempting to convey. May be an ok book for some and others may like it, but personally this isn’t a book I’d consider recommending.

What stood out most in this book to me was the language

No one ever told me this I just found for myself. I’m 66 years old lived all kinds of walks of life. Would that be said I have the least respect for this book and only listen to this book because I had eye surgery and I have to ask my eyes every 20 minutes And I can’t read with my eyes. I think that the lady who wrote this book is probably an intelligent person because of her background and mental health. However, the person of this book is beyond measure. Looking from different perspectives, which I try to do I feel That she had very little intelligence or she would’ve known that the person in the book made her sound like she didn’t have a degree at all. I’m saying this from my heart not to be ugly, but I would never listen to this book again, if I had known That it had this much cursing in it every word that you can think of. It’s a curse word was nearly used. No female parts were involved that’s about the only thing that wasn’t used as far as curse words go. I think the lady has lots of knowledge, but nothing that I Have an already ran. The last section of the book is the only thing I actually enjoyed was learning that she was in a regular stay at home person and was actually in the mental health field. I should have known and I apologize for my part of the name of the book should’ve told me everything. I guess I have had a few years of work in the health field as a nurse. I sort of expected a little more deeper elaboration on the narcissist, thinking. The curse words did get in my way for two reasons, even if I was a 22-year-old reading this book the curse words would have bothered me because I’ve never in my whole 30 years of nursing and some of it being in, the site field for years of it anyone with the background use crossword. I know I saw no fashion but I just don’t even care for movies. I don’t watch Netflix very often unless it’s something I really want to see usually a documentary. But I will say I gave her two stars, because at the end of her last few sentences for just a few seconds, I almost considered using her for counseling and I’m still thinking about it. I don’t want to feel offensive and I don’t want to sound offensive but if I did use your counseling, I definitely wouldn’t want to hear all the street talk. God bless thank you for having your book out there remove the curse words, and I believe it’ll be a bestseller.
