About this listen
When I first started writing what became The Reversion, the first book in the series, I had no idea it would become a book. When it did become a book, I had no idea there would be a second book, and when I finished the second book, I had no idea it would become a series. And now, here we are.
One thing I have particularly enjoyed about writing the Stonemont series is that I have been able to teach principles of preparedness and survival to so many around the world. Another is that I have been able to write about those things I feel are foundational to any society - faith, family, and community. And a third is the relationship I have gained with so many readers who share those principles and find in Stonemont a world they prefer to the world in which we now live.
Of course, there are other things; being able to include family and friends as characters, including lessons to my children who will one day (hopefully) read and understand them, and including observations and lessons from history of which few are aware, but which explain so much of our present and provide us a guide for the future.
But, on the whole, they all come together in what I now think of as the Stonemont "world" - a place where people of like mind come together in the shared experience of living life as it should be lived.
I want to extend a special thanks to all of you "Stonemonters" who have been here from the beginning. You have made this series an unimaginable success. And, while at times I thought it would end after book three, book four, or certainly book five, I can now see no end in sight, as life goes on and so does the story.
I hope you enjoy this book. I look forward to hearing from you. And I look forward to writing the continuing saga of Stonemont!
All the best, and Semper Paratus,
Steve Smith

Story
Lucas knows the perfect night entails just three things: video games, wine, and pad thai. Peanuts are a must! Other people? Not so much. Why complicate things when he’s happy alone? Then one day the apartment board, a vexing trio of authority, rings his doorbell. And Lucas’s solitude takes a startling hike. They demand to see his frying pan. Someone left one next to the recycling room overnight, and instead of removing the errant object, as Lucas suggests, they insist on finding the guilty party. But their plan backfires. Colossally.

It’s 1984, and life has changed beyond recognition. Airstrip One, formerly known as Great Britain, is a place where Big Brother is always watching, and nobody can hide. Except, perhaps, for Winston Smith. Whilst working at the Ministry of Truth, rewriting history, he secretly dreams of freedom. And in a world where love and sex are forbidden, where it’s hard to distinguish between friend and foe, he meets Julia and O’Brien and vows to rebel.

The 13 chapters of The Art of War, each devoted to one aspect of warfare, were compiled by the high-ranking Chinese military general, strategist, and philosopher Sun-Tzu. In spite of its battlefield specificity, The Art of War has found new life in the modern age, with leaders in fields as wide and far-reaching as world politics, human psychology, and corporate strategy finding valuable insight in its timeworn words.

Story
Who is Audrey Hoedemaker? It's a question her sister Maureen has heard more times than she can count, and she doesn't know what the short answer would be. Little sister, troubled teen, backpacker, musical theatre coach, con artist, childcare worker. Murderer. A tragic, traumatic childhood casts a long shadow on the Hoedemaker sisters. Maureen has worked hard to move beyond the violence of the past and build a good, honest life for herself. Audrey, however, just can't seem to do the same, careening from one state of chaos to another.

Story
When I was a little girl, I dreamed a handsome knight would come and rescue me from my wretched mother. He'd ride up on his white steed and break the curse I've been fated to carry since the day I was born. Funny how things changed over time, how the fairytale twisted into something far more crooked—and darker—than I ever imagined. In reality, my knight is scarred and broken, living alone in a castle of bones that overlooks the sea. He isn’t searching for me. He never was.

Two little girls stand with their heads bowed in my living room. I’m told they’re my granddaughters. Daisy is nine, and Alice seven. Daisy is the spitting image of her mother. This is the first time I’ve met them since my daughter and I fell out after she married that waste of space, Vince. They’ve come to live with me because their mother — my daughter — was murdered. In her own home while they slept close by. I think Vince killed her. But the police can’t prove it. I’ve always known he was no good. He treated my daughter like dirt. I said he’d cheat on her — but she wouldn’t listen.

Traumatized by the bombing of Dresden at the time he had been imprisoned, Pilgrim drifts through all events and history, sometimes deeply implicated, sometimes a witness. He is surrounded by Vonnegut's usual large cast of continuing characters (notably here the hack science fiction writer Kilgore Trout and the alien Tralfamadorians, who oversee his life and remind him constantly that there is no causation, no order, no motive to existence).

Author's Note - As I have mentioned in past books, this is a sequel to the previous and should be read after the others; The Reversion, The Revival and The Renewal, in order to fully understand it. My reason for this is simple; I’ve always found it tedious to read re-introductions of situations and characters, and so have no desire to write them. For those who have read the first three books in this series, you may have seen that I intended to title this one The Blessings of Freedom and make it the first in a new series called the New America series - my reason being that the action ...

As the world continues to rebuild after the collapse, groups across the country are coming together to form new communities. Some just want to survive. Some want to build a better place in which to live than the one that is now gone. And some want to conquer and enslave others in order to expand their own fledgling empires. Jim Wyatt had always said that if everything fell apart, he didn’t want to just survive - he didn’t want to notice. When the world did crash, his family’s home of Stonemont became not only a refuge, but a place where it might be possible to start over again, and reclaim the American ideal. Among the many novels in the SHTF/TEOTWAWKI genre, The Reversion stands apart – and, perhaps, alone. It does not follow the survival learning curve of the unprepared or minimally-prepared, as so many excellent books have already done so well. Rather, it is the story of a man who was prepared, and ...

Binged this series and can’t wait for more!
It took awhile to get used to the AI narration.
Found it hilarious at times.
But I didn’t let it stop me from thoroughly enjoying all 6 books.
I expect human narrators are quite expensive.
Audible was the choice I made, but I want to buy the actual books and read them myself.
Pastor Joe Fox was a pleasant surprise in this series.
I am glad he was included.
Looking forward to the next one/s.
