About this listen

This time, is an EMP only the first strike?

With a credible threat to the United States and a plane stuck on the tarmac, Grant Walton is 30 seconds from full-blown panic mode. He's the only one in the airport who knows the truth. When the power goes out, he can't waste another second. It's the beginning of the end and every man for himself.

A nuclear attack will rip the country apart.

Leah Walton is wrapping up a 12-hour shift as a nurse in the heart of the city. When the power goes out, the hospital operates on crisis mode. She can't stop to breathe, let alone check her messages. When she finally listens to her husband's frantic calls, she's faced with an impossible choice: leave or die trying.

Could you drop everything to save yourself?

Grant and Leah race the clock to find each other before the United States is plunged into chaos. When the bombs fall, their worst fears come true. Can Grant make it home in time to find his wife? Will Leah escape the brunt of the blast?

The EMP is only the beginning.

Brace for Impact is book one in Nuclear Survival: Southern Grit, a post-apocalyptic thriller series following ordinary people struggling to survive after a nuclear attack plunges the nation into chaos.

Thanks for a truly engaging story - it was over too fast and before I realized how long I had been listening. .

It's difficult to see our own reflections

First it is difficult for us as people to see our own reflections. We can see others from a critical perspective very easily, we can not see ourselves. This book series is a journey of a group of people not as many different people would see them, more through the eyes of the writer. This group of people become a reflection of what could possible happen in these circumstances.
I think the ending or last half of the book series could have been better for the amount of time of the books.
The end leaves off with so much more to the story, wondering what happen to the characters, did they make it ? where was this place they were going to? what would it be like? was it the right thing to do? did scavengers or raider show up? what happened to the elderly lady and why didn't they go there? where did they go after the motel? what other situations occurred?. Overall it was a basic storyline if your a nurse or husband you may like this story.

BELIEVABLE

With the situation being what it currently is in America a similar and just as terrifying scenario is actually a possibility, thanks Joe Biden. When the current collapse peaks our future will be just as bleak as the one outlined in this story. Perhaps even much worse and more cruel, bloody, and violent. America is currently in a sad state of rapid decline indeed. It breaks my heart.

Good book

Very inciting as what to expect if we have a cyber attack. Just don’t want to believe that we would just give up and let the Chinese take over. Hope we’re better than that. On how harsh it could get during a time as this. Yes, it probably would be just that bad, because so few people nowadays know how to do anything to survive.

I'm loving this series

The characters are well developed. It may seem a bit slow in the beginning, but it gets better. This is not an action packed story. This is a thinking person's story. It is a good change of pace. Let's see where the next installment takes us!

Very well written

I didn't know what to expect when I got this book, but I was thoroughly delighted. The writing is terrific. The story is both interesting and suspenseful.

Take the time. Well done

Very engaging easy listening. Plausible story. Characters to remember. Leah’s sister and BIL made me want to scream. Loved the addition of Paul and the boys towards the end.

Pretty Realistic but mainly Educational

I hope the Powers that Be in Russia or China don’t read this book and get any ideas. On the other hand, it’s probably more likely that our DHS, CIA, and DOD already disarm such attempts on a fairly regular basis, whether foreign or domestic. I fear our power grid is truly as vulnerable as it seems in this story. That’s part of the educational function of this book, along with providing basic info about nuclear warfare effects and capabilities, as well as some indications of how to prepare—in case anyone out there is so inclined.
