Publisher's summary

Oh, Santa baby!

Turtle Island’s Yummy Santa contest is underway, and master of ceremonies Roni Templeman is ready to rock around the Christmas tree. After years of hiding the pain of loss behind her carefree lifestyle, she’s shocked to find one broad-shouldered contestant is much more than just a hot body. But is she ready to finally let someone unwrap her guarded heart?

Single dad (and gorgeous nerd) Lucas Alexander would do anything to help the charity that’s done so much to help him - even if that means stripping down and suiting up as a sexy Santa. His battle to keep his daughter healthy has been a long, lonely one, but in Roni he’s met the easy, breezy beach girl that he wants by his side. Now he has 12 days to prove to her that their love is worth the risk, and this Santa is determined to claim his Mrs. Claus.

HEART WARMING AND SO ROMANTIC

Would you listen to Hot Buttered Yum again? Why?

Yes, this is such a feel good romance.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The old lady next door! LOL

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did...Home sick in bed, and doing crafts I had my ear buds on all day...got frustrated when anyone tried to talk to me.

Any additional comments?

I grabbed this book because I'd just watched and enjoyed a movie on Netflix with a similar theme...this book was so much better! I enjoyed the twists, the light drama (no too much oh boo hoo poor me like some books) and Loved the ending! The narrator (Amy McFadden) did a wonderful job with the voices too - yes, I had to start the book over to include her in my review since she isn't credited!

This narrator is the worst!!!!

I love Kim Law, and her usual narrator is great. I don’t know what the reason is for the switch on this one but it is so bad. If people spoke the way she narrates them in this book, I would punch them in the throat. She is so distractibly bad I couldn’t listen to it at all. She makes the women all seem like whiny unbearable bimbos, and the men sound like beach bums with low IQs.

Hot buttered love

Ronnie is a concert pianist who has semi retired due to heart breaking happenings in her past. Lucas is a man with a young child in leukemia remission . Brought together during a contest on Turtle Island, they seem to be made for each other. Lucas is positive and self assured. Ronnie is a bit broken and unsure of herself. Luckily, fate and friends help them navigate through. Well written with memorable characters.

Back on Track

I normally like Kim Law's books, but I hated the first book in this series (Ex on the Beach) and the last Sugar Springs book. I thought that was it for me and Ms. Law's books. However, I have Kindle Unlimited and decided I could try again since it was basically free. Am I glad. I enjoyed "Hot Buttered Yum" and felt she's back on track and back in my 'author's to read' list. Personally, I'd skip the first book in the series and start with this one - you won't miss anything.

This book was okay

I liked this book. It was the sappy, romantic, unrealistic love story that I like to read. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because of all the sex scenes. I understand that love stories usually come with sex scenes, but need there be 10?!

Entertaining

I enjoyed the story. Kim Law is quickly becoming a go to author for me for quick, enjoyable reads. I like her strong characters and her writing style. My only complaint is with Amy McFadden. I had to slow the speed down a notch. And being a southern girl myself, her accent need a little work.

Dreadful narrator

What disappointed you about Hot Buttered Yum?

To be honest I loved the idea of the book but haven't gotten beyond chapter two.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I will never again buy a book with an uncredited narrator. I have been caught out before and foolishly allowed myself to be distracted by the blurb for 'Hot Buttered Rum' and ignored the uncredited narrator.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

She was dreadful. No voice tone - no ability to add character to the story. Simply awful.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Hot Buttered Yum?

Can't say - couldn't listen to enough of it to make that decision.

Any additional comments?

Not really only to say that commercially produced audiobooks should give all details - including narrator. If I don;t enjoy an author's books I don't red them - equally if I don't like a narrator, I will avoid listening to those books regardless of author.

Worst Audible Book I Have Purchased

Once I pay for a book, I will usually listen to it, even if it is disappointing. I read some other books by this author and they were ok. But this book was the worst piece of drivel and I finally just gave up. Not only is the story silly and unbelievable, the narrator sounded like she was reading to a group of kids in the reading circle at the library. Never will I purchase another book read by her. Please don’t waste your money or your credit on this garbage.
