About this listen

The New York Times best-selling author of A Work in Progress and Note to Self moves fully into adulthood with his illuminating, soulful, bleeding collection of narrative, poetry, and original film photography.

Humanitarian, entrepreneur, and content creator Connor Franta first captivated listeners with A Work in Progress, ruminating on his Midwestern roots to his early start as a visionary and online thought-leader. He continued his soul-searching-through-a-broken-heart with Note to Self, challenging listeners - and himself - to ponder the spectrum of humanity and their place within it.

Now as Franta approaches 30, life is no less confusing, but he finds this journey endlessly fascinating. Writing about confusion and clarity, loneliness and whirlwind romances, despair and elation - and everything in between - Franta invites listeners back into the intimacy of his mind.

House Fires magnifies a young man’s emotional warfare with his past, the daze of wandering through modern times in search of purpose, and the electricity flying from tomorrow’s potential.

Connor is definitely one of the OG content creators that I relate to most. It was so nice reading this book and feeling like there is someone else out there in this world that feels and experiences a lot of the same things I’ve been through. Not many people dig this deep into their thoughts and feelings and share it with the world. The poetry in this book definitely hits home in so many ways and they have been saved in a safe place in my memories for me to revisit later. We are all such complex human beings and it’s nice to know Connor is out there willing to explore all possible ideas of those complexities. It’s sad to hear some of the trials he’s been through but having been through several of those myself it gives me a lot of inspiration to keep pushing through the struggles and keep creating for those who are willing to watch and listen.

This book was like listening to a podcast of life: you can see yourself smiling, being thoughtful at times and felling sad at parts. This book is truthful and concerning. Devastating yet hopeful at the same time. And that’s life itself.

Astonishing peace of art

Everything except the poem and pictures. It was quirky but boring. Very political. Needed more self reflection.

It was an okay story with some humor
