About this listen

Sequel to the number one bestselling global phenomenon!

Sarah J. Maas's sexy, groundbreaking Crescent City series continues with the second installment.

Bryce Quinlan and Hunt Athalar are trying to get back to normal - they may have saved Crescent City, but with so much upheaval in their lives lately, they mostly want a chance to relax. Slow down. Figure out what the future holds.

The Asteri have kept their word so far, leaving Bryce and Hunt alone. But with the rebels chipping away at the Asteri's power, the threat the rulers pose is growing. As Bryce, Hunt, and their friends get pulled into the rebels' plans, the choice becomes clear: Stay silent while others are oppressed or fight for what's right. And they've never been very good at staying silent.

In this sexy, action-packed sequel to the number one best seller House of Earth and Blood, Sarah J. Maas weaves a captivating story of a world about to explode - and the people who will do anything to save it.

Clever story but fluffed

Dimensional characters and interesting twists. But it gets bogged down by repetitive declarations of love/lust by the main protagonists.

I’m going to need a minute to process everything…

Ok. So. I personally did not like Crescent City as well as the other works of SJM; however, I’m a sucker for her writing, so here I am, finished with her latest work. I truly just had a “Meh” level of excitement going in. I figured it would follow the typical book two formula of information-overload, introduction of new characters, more world building, and of course a plot-twist cliffhanger to finish it off. Yes, it did have all of these things, but SJM managed to surprise me (yet again)! I enjoyed this book far more than the first Crescent City novel. I think the other supporting characters really brought a life that was much needed. SJM definitely made my jaw drop in surprise more than once with this one, and I am now finishing the book with a much higher excitement level that I started with. The ending plot twist was something that flittered through my mind before I started this book, but I laughed it off…. BUT THEN SHE DID IT! And in true SJM form, it was much better than I imagined.
Now I am left with more questions and theories, and I need time to process them all. I am anxiously waiting to find out how long I have to wait for the next novel.

Also, I am so freaking glad she chose to go back to Elizabeth Evans as the narrator for this series. This woman could read me a soap box and I would be on the edge of my seat begging for more. She. Is. Phenomenal. I am convinced she could make a terrible story entertaining from start to finish, so imagine what she does with incredible stories like SJM’s!! She’s the best. Period.

Last thing… Do not. I repeat. Do NOT let your children (really even teens) listen to/read this series. With each new SJM series the smut level increases exponentially, so proceed with caution… and listen while you are alone. Until next time

excellent continuation!

Okay, so this is definitely a cliffhanger, which I do absolutely hate. However, it's not one of those cliffhangers that ends as if it's in the middle of a scene. So it is tolerable. the character development and addition of different characters was great. It's more spread into different characters experience and point of view so it's not completely centered on Bryce and Hunt. I liked that adjustment, it seemed to add more to the over arching theme of the story, allowing to get a bigger picture of what's going on. Definitely some twists and turns and by then end you have to really think backwards to figure out how we got there bit it's a similar style to the first book. Definitely worth the read and an excellent sequel!

Amazing book into the many worlds of SJM

I love this series! If you are new to the world of SJM. I highly recommend reading ACOTAR AND Throne of Glass series first. You will enjoy the subtile references more that way.

Amazing author and amazing series!

Fantastic Story

I love the details with all the characters. Specifically., explaining each character background with it being boring. I love how the author brings everyone together
