Publisher's summary

Now released for the first time as a standalone audiobook, House of the Rising Son, previously a part of the Dark Bites story collection from number-one New York Times best-selling author Sherrilyn Kenyon.

The eldest son in a family of three boys, Aricles had no desire to be a soldier, even though his fighting skills were among the best in the world. He was more than content on his small Atlantean farm, living a quiet, uneventful life. But when his brother is determined to don a soldier's uniform, Aricles joins him with a promise to their father to bring his brother home in one piece. What he never counts on is how much their new lives will forever change them or what the risk of a forbidden love will ultimately cost him.

Same Exact Story (Word for Word) From Styxx

If you could sum up House of the Rising Son in three words, what would they be?

Same Exact Story.... that was told in Styxx and there were no additional details that added to the story lines of either current Dark Hunter or Chronicles of Nick storylines. I have read and listened to all of the DH and CON books, there are alway "breadcrumbs" that add to the storyline and move it forward....not this time

What do you think your next listen will be?

Chronicles of Nick

What about Fred Berman’s performance did you like?

Wonderful

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I love the DH series

Any additional comments?

The additional details that were provided in this book did not need to be addressed in an entire book. Neither the current Dark Hunter storyline nor Chronicles of Nick storylines were advanced in this book. Also the bonus chapter of this book was a complete repeat of a section in Styxx and then it was covered in Chapter X of this current book, House of the Rising Sun. So I have heard text of the bonus chapter 3 times. Maybe it's important, but I can't see how.

Aricles and Bathymaas

If you could sum up House of the Rising Son in three words, what would they be?

Ancient wars and gods

What was one of the most memorable moments of House of the Rising Son?

Aricles answers Bathymaas' questions about becoming aroused.

Which scene was your favorite?

Bathymaas not renouncing Aricles when she learns the truth of Apollo's attack on Aricles.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The final scene when baby Bethany is named.

Any additional comments?

This story was part of the book Styxx and also appeared in the anthology Dark Bites. It was good then, and it's good now.

House of The Rising Son

I can say that this book is very exciting and fun but I came to the understanding of how Bathymass and Aricles history and love came to become. For the goddess justices that were not supposed to have a heart and does fall in love. She gave her heart to Aricles and he also gave her his heart too for protection. Only for the Apollo and his mother Leto to bring her to end up been the one that takes the life of her love and husband. The house of Aricles was one of the greatest in the people of Didymos and they came from a humble beginnings and they grow into warriors. They were rise by a farm and their father had three sons and two of the oldest were recruited by the goddess of justice. They were part of the army and they were trained to take over the place of the Chthonian. Who were too busy fighting among each other instead protecting the people from the gods who uses and take advantage of them. The goddess of justice is known as Bathymass Eperon and her soldiers were Malphas Caleb, Galenus, Aricles, Perseus, Phelix, Galen, Hector, Monokles, and Haides. Everyone that has followed the Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon knows the love story of Styxx and Bethany. Over the course of centuries Styxx and Beth have been destined to be together. They have been ripped apart multiple times and it seems like the world is against them. In this book we get to see their very first life cycle together. The one that started it all for them. Aricles (Styxx) and Bathymaas (Beth) meet and fall in love. But of course, Apollo, the God that feels entailed to everything, is the one that tears them apart. This is a wonderful story of how they fell in love and the promises that were made to one another. In this story you cannot help to root for Aricles and Bathymaas and how that one day they find each other again and that their love is strong enough to not allow anyone to mess things up this time. Also, we get to see an innocent side of Artemis. I would like to know more about her and her point of view of what is happening around her. I want to know what made her become the cruel woman that she is today.

Always Exceeds Expectations!

I've been a huge fan of Sherrilyn's works for quite some time now. However, the stories of Aricles & Bathymaas/Styxx & Bethany are especially near and dear to my heart. As an authorized and verified role-player, I play the character of Bethany/Bathymaas. Their story is among the most beautiful, heart-wrenching and heroic of all! Having said that, I'd also like to say that Mr. Fred Berman is my favorite narrator! He does such an excellent job with all the characters. He seems to be able to capture their spirit and also differentiate so well that I really feel like I'm hearing all there different voices. I really hope that Mr. Berman continues to narrate all of Sherrilyn's works.

Storyline

It's a bit hard to follow the story line and the epilogue and birth could have been explained a bit better I love her writing but the last book and this are not her best work

Absoluetly Amazing

What about Fred Berman’s performance did you like?

Fred Berman's performance reading this book was great, he was able to distinguish the characters.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was kept in suspense and anticipation with each chapter.

Any additional comments?

Another wonderful written book by Sherrilyn Kenyon, after all these years reading her books, I do no think I have ever read or listened to a bad one as of yet.

Skip this and get next book.

This story is included in the next book "Dark Bites" which is a collection of short stories. If you were going to get that one then definitely skip this one.

A rather wonderful more information to Styxx story

A little more information about Styxx and his true love was actually kind of refreshing and nice. even though this was such a short pre runner story.
