Publisher's summary

It's all been leading to this.

Jolie Benoit has become a skilled agent of the Underlight, relying on her savvy to complete assignments while Sergeant Wesley Haukon was out of commission. But an unexpected clue to the Order of Ananke's diabolical scheme rattles Jolie, and she turns to Hauk for comfort.

It's been years since Hauk took comfort from the touch of another person, though his love for Jolie is deep and powerful. Uncomfortable in his skin, scarred by a terrible fire, he is unable to give in to the pleasures that Jolie so desperately wants to grant him.

Meanwhile, the Order is lurking in the shadows - and when they strike, the blow is swift and terrible. Hauk and Jolie scramble to fight for their community, but with the future of the Underlight threatened, no one is safe. And Hauk will never be the same....

This book was a great way to end this series. ai was a little scared for a few moments about how it would end, but it was a very fitting ending.

The End is Never the End

First, I would highly recommend you read the first two books of this series before you start with this book. There is a lot of reference to previous characters, scenes, and plots that took place in the first two books of this series, plus they are just fantastic reads as well.

This book tied it up the story so nicely for me. It wasn’t a pretty relationship that came together and everything fit like a puzzle. Their story was heartbreaking and warming and ugly and real. Hauk and Jolie had to fight for their relationship with the world and themselves. Jolie had to learn to trust in someone besides herself and Hauk had to learn to let someone love him for him. From the moment I started listening to this story until the end, I was right there with them. Every twist and turn, had my tuning out the world to follow their story. I love Hauk. I wish a guy like him was in my future. He is brave, loyal, generous, very passionate and full of life, despite the events that have happened in his life. Jolie is beautiful, smart, sass and courageous. She is beauty and smarts in a package deal. I will not give too much of the plot away but I will say that I cried.

So attached I'm sad to see it end! 💞

absolutely love all 3 books! They had me smiling, screaming, laughing and crying and I loved every second of it! I fell in love with all the Underlights characters and I really really really really hope that there will be more adventures with Joulie and Hawk to read someday (soon would be awesome and amazing lol!!!)

Bueno!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, but I would recommend to read/listen to the other two books first. This book ties it all together, the first two are "action" "adventure" and "flirting" packed, this was more cheesy romance. I really liked that the author used 3 books to tell us the story, instead of rushing things in one book. Good job!

What about Therese Plummer’s performance did you like?

I like her sexy voice! LOL

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I blushed a lot, since I was listening to this while driving. I also cried a little bit towards the end. I was also a bit frustrated (stubborn Hawk!).

Lived up to the first book!

Nice! I am curious as to why Hawk's and Jolie's team only has one warrior plus Jolie. Hummmmm that part doesn't make sense. I think if you at least had a few more warriors it would add more depth as well as more action. It is not really realistic that you have what is supposedly a war and the other side has an army and Jolie and Hawk only have 2 warriors. Huh?

But, other than that bit of unrealisticness the story is still good and I am ready to listen to the 3rd book! :)

Review of Beauty Series

I love this series. The way the characters relationship and dedication to one another in their harsh world is priceless. Best grown up version of the old tale I have found so far. It is a keeper.

Good ending

This third and final book was a satisfying ending to the trilogy.

I was interesting when we were reminded at the very end that this was definitely supposed to be a Beauty and the Beast retelling sort of thing, even though I sort of forgot most of the way through? But I didn't mind because it was a happily ever after.

just no

the performance was great but the characters were just horrible. All the second guessing and inner monologue was dam fustrating. I'm assuming the author wanted to build some tension/suspense but it was over done. Hawk at first came off as a confident man but as the book processes he turns into a a lil b****, so insecure, was he an adult or a prepubescent teen? I understand he was scared but his character shouldnt have been so insecure. I could finish the book.
