About this listen

Savannah has fallen to the vampires, and it’s up to Grier to take out their leader, Gaspard Lacroix, and restore peace. Lacroix might be more powerful and immune to her magic, but she’s got a plan. Too bad it’s got holes big enough for a new threat to waltz through while the city is on her knees.

Now Grier must risk her very soul if she hopes to slay her enemies and prevent her world from going up in flames. But salvation comes at a steep price, and she’s not the only one who will pay. The cost just might break her, and the man who owns her heart.

Contains mature themes.

Whoa!

Let’s go Greer!

The city has been attacked, Greer and Linus have their jobs cut out for them. The elite, the gwilgee, and the house full of family keeps them all on their toes. Add in vampires running amuck.... and you have the new life Greer and Linus have become part of.

I loved this story. These characters are growing into something spectacular and with each book the story grows into something new and refreshing. Also, it’s a little nerve wrecking. Lol Greer and Linus keep getting themselves into trouble, though now, they at least seem competent to keep up and pull their arses out of trouble.

Savannah under siege, vampires, lead by Greer’s grandfather, are everywhere and when things turn grave, it’s Greer who steps up and makes a choice, one that will forever bond her to the city she loves. It’s a point in turn that hopefully leads to more abs more of these characters.

I can’t wait to see what happens next! I need more, now!

No spoilers

Ok first off i read some reviews that stated this was the last book in this series ?? I don't think so it feels like there will be more. part of the story was ok but there were parts that felt rushed or not well thought out but over all not bad. As far as the narrator Mitchell she portrayed the main character as very whiny and down trotted the whole time also this was supposed to be centered in the South where was that southern draw and twang that southerns have. Mitchell told the story in a straight voice. This would have been a much better audio book if it had been told with that southern flair. I would read more of this series i like the author not sure I will get the audio unless the narrator is changed. The book and series gets a 5 star. Narrator a 3 she wasn't horrible but not that good either.

Narrator is too robotic.

I normally don't comment on narrators, sense their performances are based on both a directors interpretation of events and the authors inputs, or so i assume. However i have to say that the fact that the narrator in this book never once seemed to change her emotional cadence regardless of what was happening in the scene or what the author wrote the character to sound like got a bit irksome. Reading action, suspense, romantic, or just informative scenes in that exact same voice even when things change suddenly made me think that the narrator was the most human sounding robot i've heard yet.
Beyond narration problems, I have to admit that i had a rather hard time suspending my disbelief when it came to action scenes and Grier using her symbols during battle. People seemed to simply stand around and let her write them on them or at them with out doing anything to interrupt the process. If i was a vampire and some lady started writing crap on the air with her own blood, i feel i wouldn't have just stood around and waited to see what would happen. Nor if i was a guard who was angry would i just stand there while said lady drew symbols on my forehead. Maybe the symbols are really simple but i can't see anyone not jerking back or shaking their head if someone starts wiping blood on them. Which would make it nearly impossible to draw even a single straight line let alone what ever the symbols are supposed to look like. The only thing i can think of is that she has some kind of super speed that she has never mentioned. Though to be fair the action scenes are slow enough and disjointed enough that i could believe that.
Compliants aside i am not disappointed with my purchase. it's a good fun and sweet story. i look forward to catching the next on.

Brilliant! absolutely 💯 brilliant!

I feel silly writing the same thing for each novel I've listened to so far from, "The Beginners Guide To Necromancy," /"The Redemption Of Boaz Pritchard," series but I can't help but say it AGAIN...each novel that I listen to pulls me further into Griers words & I just ABSOLUTELY ADORED THIS NOVEL SPECIFICALLY bc so many things clicked in2 place. so so SO many. I CAN say or admit rather that i, personally would have loved to Whack 💥 Odette in the head with a frying pan! ugh shudder
anyway yes loved the mystery of Wooly, and I was cheering in Griers corner the whole time that the poor girl had to basically not only FACE that vile prison that but she had to WALK THRU what like 5 levels of what was utter HELL for her..yet she did it!! As usual, unlike an overprotective oaf would have done,- LovelyLinus didn't DO the walking for her so to speak...instead as usual, the Lovely Linus walked BESIDE her ahh I'm just totally in love with every character in this series, the storylines are so exciting and this novel, for me actually was the most exciting one yet. Well, i have to hit submit as I gotta hit play on the next novel!! BRILLIANTLY WRITTEN,NARRATED & well its just bloody brilliant! haha literally!

So many great characters

I think this was my favorite of the books so far! We get to see Grier happy in her relationship. Plus everyone has to love Leafy and the Guilgies (I'm sure I spelled that wrong lol). We learn so much more of her past and even about Wooly. I highly recommend

Good Listen

I’m glad I finished out listening to this story. It’s a classic Rom-Com, with magic and spirits and shape shifters.
