About this listen

Three very different sisters beguile society with their beauty and charm, but only one of them must fulfill a prophecy: marry a prince. Who is the mystery Prince Charming, and which sister will be his bride?

All that clever, passionate Ravenna Caulfield wants is to stay far away from high society's mean girls. All that handsome, heroic Lord Vitor Courtenay wants is to dash from dangerous adventure to adventure. Now, snowbound in a castle with a bevy of the ton's scheming maidens all competing for a prince's hand in marriage, Ravenna's worst nightmare has come true. Now, playing babysitter to his spoiled prince of a half-brother and potential brides, Vitor is champing at the bit to be gone.

When a stolen kiss in a stable leads to a corpse in a suit of armor, a canine kidnapping, and any number of scandalous liaisons, Ravenna and Vitor find themselves wrapped in a mystery they're perfectly paired to solve. But as for the mysteries of love and sex, Vitor's not about to let Ravenna escape until he's gotten what he desires....

Contains mature themes.

Narrator not right for this

The story is great and continues the series very well. It ties in Arabella's story nicely. But the narrator ruins it for me. The men's voices sound girly (a prince should not sound girly) and the heroine's voice is maddeningly soft and high. The voices fail the dynamic dialog.

Very good story, mushy narrator. I chose to listen to the end because the story engaged me that much. I might forgo future stories with the same narrator.

What a Wonderful Surprise

This was a charming, feel good book. I love Regency romances but unique one are hard to find. This one, while it broke that mold, was one of the best love stories I’ve read in many years.

(Not sure that “mold” was the correct way to spell this trite usage?}

Meanwhile, I call this a great escape from these perilous time. Read it and smile.

Narrator needs to work on male/female voices

I enjoyed the book very much but had a hard time with the voices (especially the male voices). The men sounded raspy and it was hard to take them seriously. The women had child-like voices which also were difficult for me. The narrator did a good job with everything except she could not make the voices believable. Her reading voice was very pleasant until she tried to impersonate.

Horrible narration

A previous review indicated the narration was terrible..and of course I thought it could not be that bad. Was I ever wrong. This was a good story, but the narration ruined it to the point that I could not pay attention and the story's flow suffered.
It is at this point I wish all books could be narrated by Rosalyn Landor. There are so many people and accents..this would have been wonderful with a skilled narrator. The narrator of this story does not understand accents, so no one sounds as expected. The heroine has such a high and childish voice that it seems off when she is speaking to adults.
Editors/authors really have to start taking an interest in the performance of an audio book as sales will suffer. Can't continue with the series..what a disappointment!
