About this listen

I Married the Duke begins the Prince Catchers series by Katharine Ashe, award-winning author of historical romance.

Arabella Caulfield, one of three orphaned sisters, has clung to an ancient gypsy prophecy as the only way to save her family from endless heartbreak. Now she has 12 days to reach a remote French castle and fulfill her destiny: to marry a prince.

Along the way, Arabella meets Lucien Westfall, decorated naval captain and the new Duke of Lycombe. She thought he was a pirate. He thought she was a governess. Two wrongs have never made such a scandalously perfect right.

Listeners of Regency romances and the works of Eloisa James and Lisa Kleypas will fall in love with the Prince Catchers books by Katharine Ashe.

I like this series. I have read two of them now. However I think that while the narrator is a very good reader - her male and female voices need to be worked on a LOT! The men sound very nasally - and the women sound like little girls. I believe she has the goods - but she has to improve on her male voices especially and make the women sound a less like 5 or 6 year olds.

Narrator needs to work on her voices.

Very enjoyable, a little twist at the end is kind of exciting! Very Nice narration.

The storyline is excellent and I enjoyed listening to the obstinate lady trying to reach a goal she thought she must have to have a complete family. Then there is the male lead who is flawed by life but has the strength to persevere. It will hold your interest throughout.
The only negative was the narration, slightly. The male and female voices weren't that good. It sometimes distracts you. I think you can enjoy the story, but that's for you to judge.

Love Story and Excitement

I enjoyed this story, the characters were mostly likeable and the story had a little bit of everything I like. The narration was good and clear however I found her voice very soft and hard to hear at times.

A good fairy tale

Arabella on the other side hand was a pain
She created drama where there need not have been any and she talked too much. I truly didn't like her.

I liked the fact that there were suspense, secrets, and action in addition to a beautiful love story. The narrator did a suburb job on the female voices. The male voices were often too high pitched. I would have preferred no graphic sex scenes.

Great Storyline!

This story was nicely woven from the high seas to the beautiful castle to the mystery of a terrible person masquerading as a priest. The narrator was great and made the story. I found myself glued to the story. The book moved along without a hitch and kept you guessing the whole time.

Intriguing

A very creative storyline with complex characters. It keeps your interest in reading on to find the conclusion of this exciting adventurous love affair. It includes mystery, murder, abuse, heroism, villains and life lessons but ultimately love & truth prevail. Narration is good but I’m not real fond of male voices.

VERY GOOD!

I really liked this story up to the last 2 hours of the story. I admired both the H/H, but then it came to a crashing end.
Like so many regency, the main problem is that the H/H don't really talk to each other and there are secrets that keep them apart. I have come to expect this. The H/H are great so I could forgive this. But then in the last part of the story the heroine acts so stupidly (she walks away from her own wedding and thinks no one will notice and the groom won't feel as if he is left at the alter), to sneak into a person's home to snoop around....don't we all do this on our wedding day?? I stopped caring at this point. Such a huge disappointment that I could cry. It is hard to care about a character and they turn out to be an idiot!
I don't really know how to score this book as the first 9 hours are good, but then a wall of stupid ends it. Take your chances , but I really can't recommend this one and it became a waste of both time and a credit.

Heroine is stupid in the end

The story piqued my interest, I long to venture another of the series. My first with the author , O have nothing to complain, but the only way I can enjoy the narrator is by adjust the speed to 9

Lovely Story
