Publisher's summary

From the cocreator and costar of the hit series Broad City, a hilarious and poignant collection about love, loss, work, comedy, and figuring out who you really are when you thought you already knew.

When Abbi Jacobson announced to friends and acquaintances that she planned to drive across the country alone, she was met with lots of questions and opinions: Why wasn't she going with friends? Wouldn't it be incredibly lonely? The North route is better! Was it safe for a woman? The Southern route is the way to go! You should bring mace! And a common one... why? But Abbi had always found comfort in solitude and needed space to step back and hit the reset button.

As she spent time in each city and town on her way to Los Angeles, she mulled over the big questions: What do I really want? What is the worst possible scenario in which I could run into my ex? How has the decision to wear my shirts tucked in been pivotal in my adulthood? In this collection of anecdotes, observations and reflections - all told in the sharp, wildly funny, and relatable voice that has endeared Abbi to critics and fans alike - listeners will feel like they're in the passenger seat on a fun and ultimately inspiring journey. With some original illustrations by the author.

Critic reviews

"Poignant, funny, and beautifully unabashed, I Might Regret This takes readers on both a cross-the-country adventure and a deep dive into Abbi Jacobson's gigantic heart." (Cheryl Strayed)

"Intimate and brave in a way her audience has yet to experience, I Might Regret This is a funny, vulnerable, generous, and excruciatingly honest look at the beautiful heart that beats inside Abbi Jacobson." (Samantha Irby, New York Times best-selling author of We Are Never Meeting in Real Life and Meaty)

"As a passionate fan of Abbi Jacobson's comedy, it was no surprise to me that this book is hilarious, peculiar, and very smart. But I was unprepared for the courage she shows in making herself vulnerable on these pages: Jacobson cracks herself open and explores love and loneliness, travel and independence, success and self-loathing. I wish I hadn't finished reading this...I miss her already." (Ariel Levy, New York Times best-selling author of The Rules Do Not Apply)

Exceeds Expectations

Wonderfully and passionately narrated by the writer, Abbi. She is real and relatable and full of surprises

I would recommend to anyone who is a fan of her Series, Broad City.

This book pretty much applies to any fellow human (or dog, cat, etc.) whether you’re a struggling young creative, a socially analytical introvert or simply someone who appreciates good story telling.

Quick listen- bright, funny and sincere

Abbi feels like a best friend!

I loved listening to this book so much. It's so incredible to be able to recognize feelings and worries in other people, specially those who I admire. Abbi has a way of telling things so close to a conversation with a friend. It was a pleasure to me to get to know her better and in a deep way. The last chapter was everything i needed to hear in the exact time i needed it.

like spending time with your new introverted bff abbi jacobson

this was an incredible listen especially because abbi herself narrates. i listened on an 8 or so hour drive and it felt like getting to hang out with abbi in such a relatable, honest way. i appreciate that this is a personal journey we are invited into (or a reflection on a personal journey and inner musings) and her life beyond the abbi jacobs. my only qualm is that the book eventually ends 🥲

Weird (in the best way possible),funny & emotional

I loved this book so much - I was sad when it ended BUT Abbi has really figured out the most soul- fulfilling way of ending things (from Broad City to this book). Her material is so easy to read or listen to (you feel like you're talking to a comfortable friend) but with a lot of depth. It mirrors the chaotic conversations you have with the closest of friends ranging from pooping to childhood traumas to spirituality.

Out of left field find!

I picked this book without reading the whole description. I didn't notice the name of the author. I picked it because I thought it was about a solo trip across country. Something I'm currently working towards. I love Abbi Jacobson. I have been watching her for years on Broad city. That show and the comedy is right up my alley. Its real. Listening to this book having watched the show was amazing. I was shockingly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Like. Loved it!! I identified with her every step of the way. I laughed out loud more times then I expected to. I really found a gem without even trying. Talk about a book finding me. One of the best books I've finished in a long time. And Im sad that I'm done. Soo hurry about and write another one Abbi!

PURE RAW AND REAL

I don’t know if Abbi ever reads these- I’m sure i never would! But oh my god. I loved this. It was such a dope insight to her own personal thoughts and feelings. Feelings and thoughts i think most of us can totally relate to. It was so raw and real and the vulnerability is completed unmatched. Pure heart. I loved it. Write another!!!

She gets it

Abbi unfortunately or fortunately experienced one of the things in life that no one can prepare you for - devastating romantic heartbreak. The best part of this book is where she managed to verbalize what I never could when going through it myself and how out of control you feel as pain overrides any situation. When she was on set waiting just a tad too long on the other side of a door and she nearly lost it, yea, I’ve been there.

I thought it clever the subtle ways she weaved her career and family through this journey to recovery and across our country. Being a moody, ungrateful teen to a step-parent is also a burden I share but she memorialized it beautifully.

I would recommend this book to every one who has gone through or is going through a rough transitional period in their life. People don’t realize that it not only takes a lot of courage to do extraordinary things but it also takes a toll.

Congrats, Abbi! And thank you sharing. It took 3 years for me to find love again. Don’t worry, you will too.
