Delightful

What an amazing and entertaining young adult series this is! We pick up right where we left off in the first book. All of our favorite characters are back as well as some new ones. Demons witches goblins and magic. I just love Idi Marcus and the whole gang. So glad Cassandra was reunited with her father. Never a dull moment with Great world building, wonderful characters and a great story with lots going.
As in the first book Steven White is absolutely amazing

Self discovery unfolds

As Idi and Marcus continue on their journey, Idi is on a personal journey of discovering who he really is or was meant to be all along, with both internal and external growth, but will it be enough?
As Cassandra goes on the hunt for her missing son, we also follow Katrina’s coming of age, but time is running out and there is a war brewing.
This is the second installment in the Born to Be series and as we follow the characters discovering whom they were each born to be, the lessons on self-discovery will stay with you. I highly recommend this uplifting series to any lover of epic fantasy stories.

can't wait for book 3!

This is the best sword and sorcery fantasy series I've listened to in a long time. This series is marketed toward YA (I believe) but I'm in my fifties and LOVE it. I'm not sure where T N Traynor has been all my life, she is such a wonderful storyteller. This series really draws you in. It has life lessons within its story but it's written in such a way that you don't feel preached at or talked down to. This can be a tight line to walk and Traynor does it very, very well. I'm not sure when Book 3 comes out but I will be waiting impatiently.

Stevin White is a really talented narrator. I'm one of those listener's that love it when narrators have particular voices and/or accents for different characters. I think the voices and accents that White uses pair so well with YA books and are an amazing match to the Born to Be series. His feminine voices are extremely well done. This is a pet peeve of mine as sometimes male narrators use a voice-straining, falsetto for female characters. Female narrators sometimes do the opposite with their male voices. All that's needed is a change and the listener's brain picks up that change and regardless of gender realizes who's speaking. When a narrator's voice is straining to maintain a particular characteristic, it can jar a listener's attention away from the story and focus' that attention on the narrator. And not in a good way :) As a listener, I want to get transported into the story to the point I forget they I am being read to. White does this exceptionally well.

I really recommend this series to any who love fantasy.

Fun Fantasy Story

I enjoyed book 2 of the "Born To Be" series as much as book one. This book picked up where the first one ended. The original characters continued to grow and work through hardships. There were new characters added that I liked. There was plenty of action. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. Steve White's narration was entertaining. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Good series but the editing...

I’ll be honest. I great narrator can keep me listening to a poorly written book, and a bad narrator will always keep me from fully engaging. I’ve gotten halfway through good books and said, “I just can’t listen to this anymore!” This narrator has good attributes but a weird range of voices. Grown men are made to sound like kids, young women are made to sound like old crones, it’s all over the place. There have been NUMEROUS misuses of pronouns and mixed up names throughout the first two books. Editing was poorly done because there are several spits where the narrator says a sentence one way, pauses, and repeats it a different way. Says the wrong name and starts over with the right name, etc.
