Marci Melzer
About this listen
Have you been frustrated with your speech therapy experience?
Marci Melzer, M.Ed./SLP, is an intuitive speech-language pathologist with 30 years of experience helping people develop the ability to use spoken language functionally.
As a speech therapist, Marci found the health care system to be increasingly disempowering for both her and her clients. She finally left after being required by contract to go against her ethics for financial gains. Marci is now helping families by training the parents to facilitate language themselves faster, easier, and with a lot more fun than speech therapy.
Marci learned, after decades of speech therapy, that parents are the best language facilitators. Parents already know their children better than any therapist can. They know what their children are thinking and feeling due to the natural, intuitive connection between parents and their kids.
Marci’s language facilitation program equips and empowers parents to see the speech learning from the child’s perspective. She teaches parents to self-analyze their own teaching methods as well as their child’s school and therapies to discover the habits, patterns, and mind-set issues that are keeping their children stuck in nonverbal communication and resistant to learning to talk.
Parents whose late-talking children have received diagnoses such as autism, apraxia, global developmental delay, genetic disorders, brain malformation, and auditory processing disorder are now conversing. Parents are seeing almost immediate results in children from two-years-old to 13-years-old. Every child can benefit from parents using language facilitation.
Hundreds of parents watch Marci’s videos on Facebook and YouTube every day and comment on how the strategies are helping them overcome their child’s resistance to speech faster than speech therapy. Now, parents can have an audio version of Marci’s language facilitation program to use at their own pace.
Every family who eliminates communication blockages and facilitates language naturally has heard their limited-verbal and nonverbal children use spontaneous spoken developmental language within weeks. Many children begin talking within days. These strategies are that good.

Story
Many of us know we're putting too much pressure on our kids - and on ourselves - but how do we get off this crazy train? We want our children to succeed, to be their best, and to do their best, but what if they are not on board? A few years ago, Ned Johnson and Bill Stixrud started noticing the same problem from different angles: even high-performing kids were coming to them acutely stressed and lacking any real motivation. Many complained that they had no real control over their lives.

Feels like I've just paid $10 to read an ad
I have conflicting thoughts on this book.
On the one hand, the proposed technique does sound interesting. But, I feel that it wasn't fully fleshed out. The explanation of how to facilitate talking, was pretty rudimentary.
The author then refers you to her website and tries to sell her services.
Also, I was troubled by the first part of the book, which goes on and on about how "the system" tries to slap an autism diagnosis on every child with any problem. I'm not from the US and have no experience of this, and it sounds like a scare tactic designed to attract clients.

Eye opening book!!!
I must first say that I deeply believe in this woman's work, as a mother of an autistic toddler I feel totally empowered to teach my son to speak, she insists that parents are the best language facilitators for our children and she is not wrong at all. Marci is a professional dedicated to helping the community. I met her on YouTube when I was looking for help in how to help my son better and I could never find anything interesting until I watched a video on her channel Waves Of Communication, from that moment I follow her on YouTube and Facebook and I am still amazed at her dedication and passion to help. I particularly think that this book gives you clear options and strategies to help your child, no matter what their diagnosis is, the most important thing is that it gives you the best strategies and hope to continue.

THIS WORKS!!
As the Grammy and babysitter of my 2 year old, late talking granddaughter, I was so concerned about how to help her I started reading book after book. I didn’t want her to end up in a system that might label her with some kind of unfounded diagnosis in order to get insurance payments. I knew she had the words inside her and just needed help getting them out. In our case, it wasn’t that she wasn’t talking at all, she simply wasn’t saying the number of words “expected of a child her age” as of yet, with no physical reason for it. When I got to Marci’s book and started learning about her Language Facilitation process I knew my search had ended. In addition to purchasing this book on Audible and listening to it twice now, I’ve also watched several of her videos on You Tube. As soon as I started using the strategies she outlined in this book and explained in her videos I started seeing results with my granddaughter. I plan to continue with Language Facilitation as long as it takes to get my granddaughter completely up to the level where she should be for her age. Marci is obviously a very caring person who offers many different ways for people to start down a path that (I have seen) will truly help their late talker. Don’t stay in a worried mindset. Seek out what Marci can do to help your particular situation and empower yourself to help your child. This works!! And this book is an excellent beginning.

If you have a late talker in your family, try this
Been looking for books that is out of the box and going against the system.
Her words are so empowering for parents, thank you for believing that parents can actually do it. Your book should be read by families being depressed by the situation of late talking. this is not just giving us hope, but really changes our thinking!
