About this listen
The New York Times best seller.
In 2006 Jamie Tworkowski wrote a story called “To Write Love on Her Arms”, about helping a friend through her struggle with drug addiction, depression, and self-injury. The piece was so hauntingly beautiful that it quickly went viral, giving birth to a non-profit organization of the same name. Now, To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA) is an internationally recognized leader in suicide prevention and a source of hope, encouragement, and support for people worldwide. If You Feel Too Much is a celebration of hope, wonder, and what it means to be human. From personal stories of struggling on days most people celebrate to words of strength and encouragement in moments of loss, the essays in this audiobook invite listeners to believe that it’s okay to admit to pain and okay to ask for help. If You Feel Too Much is an important book from one of this generation’s most important voices.

Story
Mental illness loves to tell lies. One of those lies is that you should be able to manage what you're struggling with all by yourself, but in Depression, Anxiety, and Other Things We Don't Want to Talk About, pastor and psychotherapist Ryan Casey Waller reminds us that we don't have to suffer alone. Mental health issues aren't a symptom of a spiritual failing or insufficient faith. In fact, suffering is the very thing our Savior seeks to heal as he leads us toward restoration. And yet, as Waller has experienced firsthand, the battle can be lonely and discouraging--but it doesn't have to be.

In her memoir You Could Make This Place Beautiful, poet Maggie Smith explores the disintegration of her marriage and her renewed commitment to herself in lyrical vignettes that shine, hard and clear as jewels. Story
We congratulate ourselves when we resist the donut in the office breakroom. We celebrate our restraint when we hold back from sending an email in anger. We feel virtuous when we wake up at dawn to get a jump on the day. We put others’ needs ahead of our own and believe this makes us exemplary. In On Our Best Behavior, journalist Elise Loehnen explains that these impulses—often lauded as unselfish, distinctly feminine instincts—are actually ingrained in us by a culture that reaps the benefits, via an extraordinarily effective collection of mores known as the Seven Deadly Sins.

After all, trying to find a soul friend in the midst of dirty dishes, deadlines, and, oh, a crazy busy life can be overwhelming. But what if developing great friendships was actually easier than we thought? And what if finding a "soul friend" wasn't necessarily our highest goal? In The Life Council, Laura Tremaine tells us what we've been hoping was true all along: making, keeping, and even releasing friends doesn't need to be as hard as we make it.

Christians love to talk about how God is in control, but that’s harder to grasp when things aren’t going like you thought it would, when your life looks quite different than you imagined. In the back of my mind, God reminds me that he is the same trustworthy God - the one who always finishes the stories he starts. And this is my story - of wrestling with our God who gives a limp and a blessing. A God who is always kind even when my circumstances feel the opposite.

What it would mean to stop seeking approval from others and decide - for the first time - what it was she wanted from her own life.

Critic reviews
"I’ve heard countless stories from people who were hurting, lonely, confused, and even suicidal - they were able to find a toehold in Jamie's words. They love him because he accepted them as they were, told them they didn’t have to act, and let them know their story contributed to the beauty." (from the foreword by Donald Miller, New York Times best-selling author of Blue Like Jazz)
"It's rare that I'm truly inspired by what life brings to my front door. Meeting Jamie was one of these rare moments. He has the biggest heart and when he says the words 'You matter,' you believe him." (Alex Morgan, US Women's National Soccer Team)
"Jamie loves people unlike anyone I’ve ever met. He is also a humble guy and a faithful friend. He’s the one who has offered to come on my darkest day, to cry with me, and on my best day to celebrate. His brand of love is one without judgment, boundaries or pretense. This book gives you a wonderful glimpse at Jamie’s beautiful heart. You’re in for a treat." (Bob Goff, New York Times best-selling author of Love Does)

BE CAREFUL, THIS CAN CAUSE "TRIGGERS"
This was an amazing book/stories of ALL things That came about with To Write Love On Her Arms.... Great STORIES OF how Jamie spent Years of his life to start this organization without KNOWING THAT HE WAS STARTING ANYTHING, other than to help a Stranger/Friend of a Friend out in her time of need .. Not Only does he continue to help others with their personal mental health, but he is along for the ride, dealing with his own issues as well... Jamie doesn't JUST TELL A STORY, but he gives multiple stories, REAL LIFE issues, and that WE ALL NEED OTHER PEOPLE, HIS words "quotes" can truly HIT 2 the HEART!
**💥💥MY WARNING is.... YOU need to be at a place in your own life to get thru this book, as it can cause tons of triggers, ESPECIALLY IF YOU DON'T KEEP READING/LISTENING... SOME OF THE CONTENT CAN HIT 2 CLOSE 2 THE HEART, AND IF YOU DON'T LISTEN TO ALL OF THE STORIES THROUGH OUT... YOU CAN DEFINITELY FIND YOURSELF IN A DARK PLACE... Myself, in recovery, From Dual-Diagnosis, Substance abuse and mental health (+10 years) I found myself at a point of relapse, going back to places within me to feel the NEED/WANT to self- harm.... AGAIN, THIS IS AN AMAZING job, but YOU have to be prepared for hearing things, and be at a place in your life to where you are able to deal.... Unfortunately, 3rd time reading/listening, I wasn't able to get through some of the book, due to the circumstances I was in at the time... OVERALL, ASTONISHING READ!! I fully support TWLOHA, and ALL they do!!
** EVERYONE'S STORY IS IMPORTANT!!💥💥
