About this listen

"I never liked jazz music because jazz music doesn't resolve. But sometimes you have to watch somebody love something before you can love it yourself....I used to not like God because God didn't resolve. But that was before any of this happened."
Donald Miller

For anyone wondering if the Christian faith is still relevant in a post-modern culture, for anyone thirsting for a genuine encounter with a God who is real, for anyone yearning for a renewed sense of passion in life...Blue Like Jazz is a fresh and original perspective on life, love, and redemption.

Critic reviews

"Miller...is a young writer, speaker, and campus ministry leader. An earnest evangelical who nearly lost his faith, he went on a spiritual journey, found some progressive politics, and most importantly, discovered Jesus' relevance for everyday life....Miller is enjoyably clever, and his story is telling and beautiful, even poignant. (The story of the reverse confession booth is worth the price of the book.) The title is meant to be evocative, and the subtitle -- 'Non-Religious' thoughts about 'Christian Spirituality' -- indicates Miller's distrust of the institutional church and his desire to appeal to those experimenting with other flavors of spirituality." The book starts, a little, slow, be patient. He speaks of his hesitations with Christianity, the prejudices and judgments we accidentally, and sometimes intentionally portray, and then how he fell in love with Jesus. You’ll be surprised at how this happens. A very organic story.

Must read! Enlightening!

Donald Miller has an incredible gift with words. These words carried me through some of the most difficult years of my life. This book will open up your eyes to a new look at Christian spirituality. It's solid. Great read. Don narrating it just a win win for the listener.

Wonderful! Beautifully written, accessible, vulnerable, inspiring and funny. Reflected so many of my own thoughts and views on the true Jesus and Christianity in modern America that I don’t know how to put into words. Keep writing and speaking, Don.

This book is very inspiring. Though at first it felt very simple because of the writing style, the short sentences, and the narrative style it is very deep and it makes you think about your life on a very strong way.

simple style, strong content
