About this listen

A woman’s dangerous career comes to a chilling end in this spellbinding thriller by Viveca Sten, bestselling author of In the Heat of the Moment....

The body of world-famous journalist Jeanette Thiels is discovered the day after Christmas, frozen in a snow-covered garden just steps from her hotel on Sandhamn Island. Detective Thomas Andreasson finds it highly unlikely that it was some bizarre accident. After all, the relentless war-zone correspondent was no stranger to conflict and controversy - both professional and, of late, very personal. Who would want to see her dead is another story.

Enlisting the help of attorney Nora Linde, his longtime friend on holiday, Thomas is anxious for the answers. But he and Nora don’t have to look far. The clues are leading them closer to home than they imagined. Jeanette may have made a career out of exposing corruption at the highest levels of world power, but she was also a woman with secrets of her own, and they’re coming to light on Sandhamn. For Thomas and Nora, unearthing the deeply rooted deceptions behind Jeanette’s death could now put those closest to her in harm’s way, too.

Horrible crime stories with detestable criminals.... yet the heroes of the books are real and likable.

Great Swedish series!

Love the books of Viveca Sten. The Swedish scenery is beautifully described and is a fitting background for the mysteries. The stories are very much current with today’s events. Can’t wait for the next book to be translated!

Very entertaining multiple mysteries

I enjoyed the different facets of this book. The multiple families were hard to keep apart, maybe because of the foreign names. I thought the performance was excellent. Having more than one mystery made it more interesting.

Series got better with each book

I am glad I stuck to this series - I found that the first 3 books concentrated on the personal lives of Thomas and Nora too much with the murders more a side story. This one was much better with the murder in the forefront instead

Still wish Nora’s personal take more a back seat - just don’t understand why she is so important to the stories other than being Thomas’ best friend and resident of sandhamn

uggh. it was so predictable

it's didn't make sense but, young Donald Trump committes a murder. it was very frustrating to listen to, and Nora didn't add anything, she shouldn't have even been in the book.
