I didn’t really know what to expect going into this one, but it turned out to be a sweet, steamy listen with that classic southern protective MMC vibe. Evelyn Montgomery’s writing flows easily, making it a quick, enjoyable audiobook that keeps you hooked from start to finish.

The story
This book gave me an easy, comforting feeling while still bringing enough heat to keep things interesting. It’s a fairly simple plot with a strong focus on the connection between the characters. The MMC is obsessed, protective, and ready to change his whole world for the FMC, who’s like a California dream girl dropped into his southern life.

The dynamic is instalove in the best way, with tension, sweetness, and a hero who will do anything to keep what’s his. There isn’t heavy drama, but rather an underlying question of will she choose him back that carries the emotional thread of the story.

Spice level
Definitely spicy, with several scenes that bring the heat without losing emotional depth.

🎧 Narration
Maxine Mitchell is always amazing – her narration feels natural, real, and full of emotion. Sean Masters together with Maxine they made a perfect combination. Their voices complemented each other beautifully, adding so much to the listening experience.
