About this listen

In this gripping sequel to the New York Times best-selling Infinity Son, Adam Silvera brings a diverse cast of heroes and villains to life in an alternate New York where some people are born with powers, while others steal them from the blood of endangered magical creatures.

Emil and Brighton defied the odds. They beat the Blood Casters and escaped with their lives - or so they thought. When Brighton drank the Reaper's Blood, he believed it would make him invincible, but instead the potion is killing him.

In Emil's race to find an antidote that will not only save his brother but also rid him of his own unwanted phoenix powers, he will have to dig deep into the very past lives he's trying to outrun. Though he needs the help of the Spell Walkers now more than ever, their ranks are fracturing, with Maribelle's thirst for revenge sending her down a dangerous path.

Meanwhile, Ness is being abused by Senator Iron for political gain, his rare shifting ability making him a dangerous weapon. As much as Ness longs to send Emil a signal, he knows the best way to keep Emil safe from his corrupt father is to keep him at a distance.

The battle for peace is playing out like an intricate game of chess, and as the pieces on the board move into place, Emil starts to realize that he may have been competing against the wrong enemy all along.

Brighton is the WORST

I love stories like this. Because it mixes the fantasy with issues such as the current political buffoonery of the country.
In any case what I like the most is the fact that the main character is a gay man, I felt identified with Emil in many aspects , the best part is that the story doesn’t revolve around his sexuality it just is. Oh the love he has for his brother is very endearing. On the other hand. Brighton’s overall greatcsattitude just makes you wanna puke. A very well written contrast.

Can't wait for book 3!

Robbie Daymond paints such an amazing picture in every novel he narrates! The rest of the cast also holds it down in this amazing sequel! Well worth the wait, Adam Silvera! Can't wait for book 3!

Well performed but poorly written

Voice acting was really well done but the story disappointed.
Brighton is insufferable. Not just a small annoyance, I dreaded every chapter with him as a narrator. I get he has a huge ego but it made his character so one sided. By far the worst book Adam has written. Fingers crossed the third book will redeem the series.

Common sense would be appreciated

I counted at least three times in the story where one of the MC's going to the press or Instagram or whatever and releasing certain details would've solved a lot of problems for everyone involved. So, a large of the martyrdom that these characters are feeling is partially self-inflicted. That being said, it's a good story, and I did not hesitate to buy the series for my young nieces and nephews, but there is a clear lack of common sense and some of the plot.

fantastic fantasy set in the now

a fantastic fantasy set in the now. does a great job of exploring multiple characters point of view. However I genuinely did not know what was going to happen next. I greatly appreciate it that because sometimes fantasies can get a little repetitive.

I want to like it more!

Some chapters are perfectly amazing, moving story and great world building. Then there are other chapters in the book that feel so dull. It feels like there was a lot of spotlight on characters that just didn't need it. BUT overall the story being told is great and I need to know what happens next.
