About this listen

Henrietta Lovell is on a mission to revolutionize the way we drink tea by replacing industrially produced teabags with the highest quality tea leaves. Her quest has seen her travel to the Shire Highlands of Malawi, across the foothills of the Himalayas, and to hidden gardens in the Wuyi-Shan to source the world's most extraordinary teas.

Infused invites us to discover these remarkable places, introducing us to the individual growers and household-name chefs Lovell has met along the way - and reveals the true pleasures of tea. The result is a delicious infusion of travel writing, memoir, and recipes, all written with Lovell's unique charm and wit.

As delightful as a cup of tea!

This book was a mesmerizing journey through a brave woman’s life and her passion to bring quality to the world. I’ve never finished an audiobook that I wanted to start again immediately as much as this one, and I’m an English literature scholar!

Absolutely wonderful!!! A must read/ listen

I am bit of a tea nerd and this book narrated beautifully by Henrietta made me look beyond the leaves into the people actually making them and the stories related. It also got me out of the world of Chinese tea and into Malawi, Nepal, Meghalaya( where I have already contacted for the famous Cloud tea), Sikkim, Ceylon and more. Though China tea culture always fascinates me.
I think I am going to be listening to the same book at least twice more. 🙏🙏🙏

The real thing

This is a book about the passion for real tea, finding it, preparing it, and enjoying it. It is written with wisdom and nuance. A gem.

Beautifully written

The narrative moves at a slow pace but it’s delightful to listen to the stories of the author’s travels, and I learned a lot about tea. She has a soothing voice and would be a great candidate for reading bedtime stories.

Second Infusion

I loved this book almost as much as I love tea. The only issue is that we've now only finished the first infusion of knowledge from The Tea Lady--Henrietta Lovell. I am not sure if Henrietta is interested in writing a second book, but I sure would enjoy a second infusion, or like a good rolled oolong, perhaps a 3rd, 4th, or 5th infusion.

Listened 3 times; didn't want to miss a word,

Lovely book, Henrietta's voice soothing; she does an excellent narration. Facinating story of how she started her tea company, reads like an adventure novel as she goes alone all around the world searching for excellent tea for her company and describes the workers, farmers, farms, landscapes, country in loving beautiful terms. I never wanted it to end.

I picked this book initially because I am interested in learning about tea; this was a perfect book. Some books have had too much information and all others have been so dry and hard to keep my attention. This book was engaging from beginning to end. Loved it.

I couldn’t possibly pick a favorite tea but this is definitely my favorite book on the topic of tea!

I’m going to make a pretty bold statement. If I could have just one book on topic of tea, it would be this book, Infused by the Rare Tea Lady, Henrietta Lovell. Of course, in reality, I own many books on the topic of tea, upwards of 30 books, I’d say. I have read a lot of books on the topic of tea... and this is the one I would choose. This was my second time reading it. The first time I read it on my own and the second time I listened to the audio. I especially recommend the audio version with Henrietta reading. Never in my life have I felt such an intimate connection with an author as I listened to her read her book. Not only did I feel like I was actually having a cup of tea with Henrietta but I also felt transported across the globe to tea farms in Malawi, Nepal, Taiwan, China, as well as iconic places like the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood, all five of my senses fully engaged. I was there. In short, Henrietta is an excellent tea lady and an excellent storyteller. With the second read (or listen), Henrietta spoke to my soul. She brought me back to my tea roots. Confession: In the last couple years I got away from what initially made me fall in love with looseleaf tea, the small tea farmer and pure tea. I was temporarily seduced by the incredible world of flavored tea. Don’t get me wrong, I mean no judgment. But Henrietta reminded me about something that I knew but intentionally had amnesia: “When you read natural flavorings on an ingredients list you don’t know exactly what they contain & the maker doesn’t have to tell you because they are considered trade secrets“. That doesn’t mean we have to go without unique flavor combos. “There are exceptions, Earl Grey, for instance. But that should be all about adding a pure essential oil to enhance, not disguise. I’m not saying the Russians shouldn’t add jam to their cup of tea, or the British milk and sugar. They are honest additions. You put them in yourself and you know exactly what they are.” So with my purchasing power going forward, this is exactly what I’m going to do. If I want vanilla black tea, I’m going to cut open a real vanilla bean and store it in my tin of black tea. Thank you, Henrietta. 🙏🏼❤️

who knew one could appreciate tea this much?

interesting but became somewhat repetitive and began to feel like continuous promotion for her teas. although a plea to support tea farmers we never learn exactly what her company does to support the growers aside from making their product available.

I absolutely loved joining this adventure in tea!

This book is an absolutely beautiful collection of stories and adventures. I loved going around the world with Henrietta, joining her at the tables of culinary masters and into the humble homes of rural tea farmers.

Her love for each person she works with shines through, I admired her incredible ability to embrace everyone she meets, with all their vast differences. Her heart for treating people with love and respect infiltrates through everything she does in her buisness, and it was a joy to read how this has lead to success in her own buisness and in the lives of others. Henrietta’s passion for tea is completely contagious and I found myself in a joyous journey of discovery and education. My daily tea drinking experience has vastly improved already!

I was a little sad when the book came to an end, but I finished feeling inspired, and richer in knowledge, my mind filled with wondrous stories of adventure, revelling in the magic of life.

expectations not met

I am an avid tea drinker and have significant experience with tea in the culinary world, including tea tastings. this book was a combination of somewhat insipid descriptions of tea with recipes for cocktails and tea pairings. wish I could have returned it...
