About this listen

He’s an arrogant control freak.

I’m a stubborn, loose cannon.

We’re a match made in hell.

Luckily, that’s Samael's home town.

After the Mage Council publicly excised me, I've finally got my first real case. And I've even taken on a brand-new employee: a werewolf with impulse control issues.

But my sister just lost everyone she loves, and she’s begging me to ask Samael for help.

Whether I like it or not, I need Samael's resources. Because anyone who can kill that many witches has the kind of power we can't afford to ignore. And there's no point dodging the demon who manages to involve himself in all of my problems.

But the more I work with Samael, the more I'm realizing just who he is beneath the mask he wears for everyone else.

And the demon I never wanted?

He may just be the love I never knew I needed.

If you like K.F Breene, Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs, Faith Hunter, Laurell K. Hamilton, Jennifer Estep, Shannon Mayer, Kim Harrison, and Dannika Dark, you’ll love this series. The Deals with Demons world includes the fae, demons, mages, werewolves, witches, and more.

That ending......

4.5 Stars

Man, I am flying through these books! At the end of the last book, Danica discovers something that she feels is a huge betrayal. Maybe it was. At this point, I'm kind of on the fence because her behavior wasn't really conducive for some real heart to heart sharing, but maybe I was a little bit annoyed with her and that wasn't fair. Regardless, things changed almost immediately out of the gate with this book.

Danica's relationship with Evie was virtually non-existent after they separated and they had not spoken in many years (with the exception of when she came to tell Evie about their mother). Now we get to see that these two are tentatively trying to get to know each other when certain circumstances occur that force the two of them together. These circumstances also force Danica to have to swallow her anger and get back in touch with Samael and Vas to try to figure out what in the heck is going on with the witches. Guess what? Things are all seemingly tied together, it's the "how" that is the question.

I like the fact that we are seeing some progress on the Samael / Danica front - I am totally on board for that. In fact, I'm finding myself VERY interested in any progress what so ever.....

While I like Kyla, it felt a bit forced with how quickly the two of them became besties. Don't get me wrong, I REALLY like her, it was just weird that on day one (and granted some MAJOR things happened on day one) but then it felt like the two of them had been besties for YEARS.....

I know, I know....I'm being a bit picky.... Sue me :)

But OMG.....that ending.

Total gut punch....

Seriously.

If book 4 wasn't already out, I would TOTALLY have a problem, but thankfully, it's already in my library and all I have to do is hit the play button. So, on to book 4......

Had to slow it to .9, but pretty much perfect

Impressed. I'm a fan of Renee, who voices the Kate Daniel's series, so my bar is very high. This is good quality. Been a long time since I've found a new series to love.

narrator was great at expression and emotion. the story was full of twists and turns with mystery as well

wish there was a male's voice for the male's roles. don't like the cliff hanger.

Best in series so far

I complained about the last book because Danika was being a brat, but she finally wised up! This book was fun and the ending was perfection. Glad I continued with the series. Can’t wait to listen to the next book.

AHHHHH!!!! that ending!!!

This book was a little slower pace then the previous books.
It starts with Danika moving into her office space her Mage friend rented to her. Soon she has a missing persons case and a werewolf partner. I really like Kayla. She seems like a someone who matched Danika's energy really well.

Shortly after getting her first case as a PI, she gets a call from her sister frantic because the coven house is on fire with nearly 2 dozen witches trapped inside. Evie guilts Danika into asking the demons for help. Danika still isn't talking to Samael after she found out about the prophecy.

I understand her feelings are hurt but Samael has known her for 6 months. He has been plotting against Lucifer for centuries. He was doing what was best for everyone. Not just herself. I'm so glad they are finally stable in their relationship (they are going to need to be for the future) i love Samael. his possessive protective nature and the way he just takes care of her. He knows he has to because she will neglect herself to help others so he is there to do it for her.

i was not prepared for that ending. hind sight is 20/20 but looking back on it now there definitely slight hints it was coming. I'm curious to see how Danika saves the day

Wow. The series continually gets better with each book. This is the type of book you don’t want to end.
