About this listen

The behind-the-scenes story of the investigation that shook America to its core—the Mueller investigation that presented the evidence of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election—as told by Robert Mueller’s closest colleagues, including never-before-revealed details into how the team investigated Putin’s campaign to favor candidate Donald Trump and Trump’s efforts to interfere in the investigation.

Interference is the true history of the most important and consequential decisions, obstacles, and quandaries Mueller and his team faced when investigating Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. For the first time, Mueller’s only deputy, his most senior counselor who served on the Watergate Special Prosecution Force, and the lead prosecutor looking into obstruction of justice and Russian interference, have come together to tell a highly relevant and compelling account of what it was like to carry out their investigation of election interference, as well as any connections that existed between the Russians and members of the Trump campaign.

Interference also highlights the many actions Russia took as it favored candidate Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton offering a powerful reminder of how committed Russia was to determine the outcome of the election. Ultimately, the special counsel brought indictments against thirty-four individuals and entities, including Trump’s campaign chairman; his deputy campaign chairman; a campaign advisor; his first national security advisor; and one of Trump’s longtime associates; as well as against Russian participants. Nearly every case that was able to proceed resulted in a guilty verdict or plea.

Interference explains the motivations and actions of Russia (which has not stopped exploiting America’s weaknesses), the importance and the limitations of a special counsel, and the need for people to make principled decisions even when being pushed from all directions not to. Much can be learned from the experiences faced by the Mueller special counsel office as it broke ground on some of the most complicated challenges facing our country—then and now. The narrative carries special relevance today, as the Supreme Court has sharply limited the conduct by a president that can be prosecuted—or even investigated.

Unbelievable details and work.

The book should be read by every citizen in the US. It was an inside look at all the effort put into the Russian interference as well as its American accomplices. The skilled professionals were absolutely working in favor of our democracy and the core of democracy, our right to vote and have those votes counted. Highly recommend this book! A+++

Authoritative review

Comprehensive & Authoritative review of the Mueller investigation. This book reveals a lot about the disinformation put forth by the then attorney general at the conclusion of the investigation.

An important if Frustrating Read

Overall I am glad I read this book, and think it’s an important work. I appreciate the authors positions, candor, and the rigor with which they present and defend their actions. That said, I can’t say I agree with all of their conclusions or actions. I can’t say I could have done a better job, but a number of their actions deserve more critical analysis. While I agree with their conclusion in general, I fear they have portrayed themselves as a collective of Ned Starks who’s nobility was ultimately their Achilles heal.

Important Message- maybe too late

The story is a factual update on what every American should know. Much of the Mueller report was lost in all of the noise. The story tells of people’s commitment to the rule of law and how political forces can’t work against there good intentions.

The Anatomy of How We May Not Be Able to “Keep it”

This is a precise blow-by-blow guided tour of the Mueller Investigation. From the butterfly’s fluttering wing (that brought about the dismissal of James Comey) to the tornado where AG Barr delivered his own deceitfully, “neutered down”version of a most ethical and facts based 24-month SCO Investigation. I’m so grateful that these 3 eye witnesses have come forward with this critical, true account. They spared nothing, including those hard lessons learned from things they would do differently again. This 24 months was a significant toll on Bob Mueller, these 3 coauthors and all who served within this SCO under their leadership. They sacrificed income, family time, and sleep. In the end they, their teams and our Country were robbed of the product of all their hard work and sacrifice. All done in the effort to educate Congress and the American people that something terrible happened…to us…on an existential level. And because of that, hard decisions needed to be made. I appreciate that this book ends with the timely clarification of the 2 decisions that comprise of the Supreme Court’s presidential immunity decision (July, 2024). The dissolution of presidential accountability for criminal actions / intentions, and the inability to investigate anyone holding that Office, will plummet not only the US, but the world into a darker and more dangerous future. The point of origin has grown out of the very things Mueller et al, investigated. This book is a call for us all to wake up. We need to listen…before it’s too late.

Just plain duped

Go to your local bookstore, open this book, turn to Chapter 22 and read the sdmission that they retained their orifessiinalism and loyalty to each other and very well may have lost our country to a flatout cabal of authoritarian robbers. We know most of the previous 21 chapters. There's some fun behind the scenes conversations but it's painful to hear the decisions to literally squelch the opportunities to hold Trump accountable with a real Suoreme Court at the end. Thus is in part a get back at Andrew Weissmsn who warned them. In return, they call him "harsh". Four of the smartest attorneys in America and they were duped.

Great book, lousy narration

The book was incredibly informative. A lot of the details I already knew, but the in-depth insights were fascinating.

But the narration??? Holy moly! Bad pronunciation without consistency. Breaths every three words. Horrid cadence. No emotion whatsoever. Like bad AI.
