About this listen

The Zondervan Biblical and Theological Lectures series provides a unique audio learning experience. Unlike a traditional audiobook's direct narration of a book's text, Introduction to Biblical Interpretation: Audio Lectures includes high-quality, live recordings of college-level lectures that cover the important points from each subject, as well as relevant material from other sources.

Introduction to Biblical Interpretation: Audio Lectures provides a full seminary-level overview of biblical hermeneutics. Biblical scholars William Klein, Craig Blomberg, and Robert Hubbard cover:

  • The history of biblical interpretation
  • Current discussions about finding meaning in written texts
  • The formation of the biblical canon and the task of translating Scripture
  • Guidelines for reading biblical poetry and prose
  • Identification of the various genres of the Old and New Testaments
  • And insights for understanding and applying Scripture today

Useful for formal students wanting additional instruction and for self-learners alike, Introduction to Biblical Interpretation: Audio Lectures by William Klein, Craig Blomberg, and Robert Hubbard provides an excellent, thorough primer on the discipline of biblical hermeneutics.

a good buddy Bible study

is the great book I like the lot of the chips they gave us but a lot of the deep explanation of what scripture means and how to interpret it within its context I think is critical to people these days instead of taking the word and take it out of context and then applying it whenever they feel like it meet their needs

Great breakdown of interpreting the Bible

Loved the audible and will put into practice the ways to make sure I don't misquote or use God's word incorrectly.

Great alternative to the video lectures.

Okay, for those who complain about the ebook not containing the textbook; this is not the textbook rendition, but only the audio variant for the video lectures that are purchased separately. The title explicitly says that, therefore, all these lowball ratings are just ignorance-found. Good lectures, good sub themes. I would agree that the scope of these lectures is very introductional. The book is more thorough. If you want something more heavy, consult technical commentaries and books on specific books of the Bible. Thank you Audible for providing this.

Wonderful resource

I needed this book for a class, and it was among many, many other books I needed to read. I bought the audible version in addition to the physical book so I wouldn’t be completely house bound during my (online) studies. I have learned so much from listening to the authors peak about methods and reasons and historical application. I highly recommend this and their physical book. The physical book is a little different. The audio version is like a lecture that accompanies the book.

Good but basic and limited

Good content delivered from a scholarly and conservative perspective. Fairly basic overview. Anyone who has taken a class in biblical interpretation will be familiar with most of the content. This class does not detail how to preach or teach the Bible, but only how to interpret and apply with an emphasis on interpretation.

Cut too much from the lectures

this could have been a great lecture series, but they cut too much from the lectures and so it's incomplete and inconsistent, leaving many questions in what's being presented.
