About this listen

In this classic romance from New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts, one woman will discover that love has the power to overcome all barriers.

Erin McKinnon had followed her cousin Adelia to America and was immediately captivated by Royal Meadows's charm.

But she was not nearly as impressed with Burke Logan, owner of the neighboring property. A womanizing, cigar-smoking gambler, he was exactly the type of man her mind told her to stay away from. The heart has never been very practical, though....

Keyword: communication! LOL!

Erin met Burke when he came to Ireland to visit with her cousin, Adeila. They were both attracted to each other. Erin, wanting more out of life than working on a farm in Ireland, moved to the United States to work. Burke and Erin’s relationship developed and they married. However, he won’t open up about his past to her. She tries to be supportive towards him, but he keeps her at arms length. Though they both love each other, they are at a stalemate until she is kidnapped. Burke still doesn’t think he deserves her. The romance is good and the story is good, but I was a little frustrated with Burke and Erin.

Love the book, not the narrator!

Great story by Nora Roberts; you'll enjoy it a lot more if you read it yourself rather than listening to Amy Rubinate read it to you. She just tries way too hard. Voice inflections in all the wrong places. She should try a different line of work. Would have submitted this review with no stars for performance if the application allowed.

Why not male and female performers together?

I basically liked the story and I know it's conventional to have one reader, but I think that at least a male and a female reader would serve a romance better.

2 thumbs up

Very good book, Nora Roberts did a good job tying in the first book. Plus horse themed which makes it even more amazing.

The narrator is awful.

Every sentence sounds exactly the same. It's repetitious and worse than boring. She's annoying. Her accent OR attempt at accent is nauseating. Ketchup and she ruins this story.

Good story-entertaining.

I loved the story but struggled with narration - too breathy which made it all sound so fake.
