very good

Excellent story, all the way through, strong and emotional, I loved it. The ending surprised me but makes complete sense. Cindy Harden does an excellent job narrating it. if you like thrillers and suspense you will love this book.

good first book

First time author for me, debut novel for the author. The author, Kate Kessler, describes herself as a former juvenile delinquent who grew up in a small town in the NE United States. The protagonist in the story, Audrey, is a former juvenile delinquent who grew up in a small town in the NE United States so one can assume the author took at least some of the story from her own personal experiences. I grew up in a small town myself (Iowa) and the description of at least some of the interaction between the small town folks is accurate.

The story itself is well written, witty and hip. Audrey, the main character, who had moved away to escape her past, comes home after several years at her mother's request. She immediately finds herself caught up in old circumstances plus there is the murder of her old best friend and she is the first suspect. From there the mystery unfolds and I tried to figure out who I thought committed the crime but was wrong for the most part, the author has you guessing who might have done it.

I enjoyed the story and it was an easy listen..

Just couldn't listen any longer

Would you try another book from Kate Kessler and/or Cindy Harden?

I don't think so.

Would you be willing to try another one of Cindy Harden’s performances?

no. I don't find her voice someone I want to listen to

Any additional comments?

I gave this book 3 hours of listening but had to give up. The plot line was boring, most due to the narrator's voice I think. It's too whinny. The book needs someone with a slightly lower voice with better intonation.

Made it through about an hour

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Maybe for someone who also loves daytime soap operas.

What could Kate Kessler have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I found the writing trite and the excessive use of cussing annoying. I am not a prude and certainly have used those words, but it seemed like the F bomb was coming through about every 3 minutes and it got annoying.

What character would you cut from It Takes One?

I did not listen long enough to have any affection for them. It seemed quite apparent that shallow was going to be the main quality for all of them.
