About this listen

Help your parents live with dignity in their twilight years without sacrificing your own health and sanity.

When elderly parents can no longer care for themselves, the responsibility for their care usually falls on their adult children. This guide will help you navigate this difficult journey so that you can take care of your parents without unnecessarily disrupting your life. Filled with insights from the author’s own personal experience with caring for her aging mother, it will make your caregiving experience more manageable and more rewarding, right from the start.

Here’s just a fraction of what you will discover inside:

  • A compassionate look inside your parents’ world to help you empathize and understand what they are going through
  • How to handle embarrassing senior moments with sensitivity and grace
  • The most common conflict situations you’ll encounter with your parents and how to resolve them peacefully
  • How to slow down memory loss and declining health and help your parents remain active and independent for as long as possible
  • What to do when it all becomes too much for you—find out where to go, what to do, and who to ask for help when you need it the most

And much more.

Caregiving is never easy no matter who you’re caring for, but it’s even harder when you’re taking care of a parent. But while you can’t turn back time, you can make this time count by providing them with a caring environment and unconditional support. I got this audiobook to help in the situation we are in right now. It's not with my parents, rather my grandparents but they might as well be my parents too. It's a lot to deal with and adjust to for everyone involved. The author did an excellent job giving her own insight and experience for the reader to understand and connect with. She covered a lot of items, even the embarrassing ones, which I appreciated.

I've been telling many of my close friends the past few years that I get a little emotional when I see my parents aging. Seeing what my parents go through with their parents as their health declined made me very sad. Even though my parents are not at that age yet, I find this book quite relatable. My grandmother had Alzheimer's and she passed away a few years ago. This book gives me some comfort that our family was not alone in this experience. Michelle provides good advice on how to communicate and take care of your aging parents so they can live long and healthy. Thank you for sharing your tips!
