About this listen

A laugh-out-loud, slice-of-life LitRPG story of an overpowered hero... and the system AI is having a terrible time.

After too many lifetimes to count slaying demons and grinding levels, prophesied hero Kaito finally tells destiny where to shove it.

He's done.

When dimensional portal number seventeen drops him in front of an enthralled king begging him to vanquish the looming Dark Army, he does what any retired adventurer would do—politely refuses and heads off to focus on the simple pleasures of life: community, and getting his taxes done on time.

No more impossible quests, no more magical MacGuffins, and no more final bosses. Kaito is putting his armor out to pasture for good in a cozy village baking hell-herbs and bread. He's found peace. He's found home. He's finally free to live out his slice-of-life fantasy.

There’s a good story with an interesting take on the heroes journey. But this story really was not something I found extremely interesting. It’s your typical extremely OP main character in a slice of life story. As with most of these type of stories where the main character is extremely OP, Most of the story was told from the perspective of side characters.

Good story, but not my cup of tea.

Very basic in a good way. I love a good op hero just wanting to settle down.

Fun light read

Kaito got summoned to be the Hero and noped right out of it. Instead he found a quiet village to try and be a baker. Try as he might, the Hero’s call keeps knocking. He keeps finding ways to avoid it, but in doing so he only builds his image as the Hero.

It’s a fun listen.Great narrator. Good story. Please enjoy

I loved every minute, it had some comedic moments and was perfect for escapism — chef kiss!

Jonny Cruz narrated this, and it was so epic.

So I own several hundred LitRPGs. This one fascinated me after fist but fell off hard. It's starts off with the hero saying no go to kill the demon king to the kingdom he was summoned too. He is like I am going to do my thing a be a banker. I was so for that but somehow he gets into managing a village and once I got to him doing taxes for the village I was like this is not the cozy life I was hoping for. It's okay of a story I guess. It hits some generic fantasy itches.

I'm listening to it cuz it's a simple story. No complicated plots or anything like that. Pretty relaxing and very funny. And wow, Jonny Cruz's voice acting is great.

This book didn't quite hit the mark for me. The humor felt forced and overplayed, often missing the natural flow of comedy. While some jokes land, they tend to be a bit childish, and the majority fall flat. It feels like it’s trying hard to be funny rather than genuinely being funny.

Attempts to be funny rather than being funny

About an hour in. MC is in a trap that no amount of power could rectify. Other characters are intentionally cliche for comedic effect, comes off as an ode to despair.
