About this listen

Mars Xi can kill you with her mind, but she'll need more than psychic powers to save her in Killing Gravity, the thrilling science-fiction space adventure debut by Corey J. White.

Before she escaped in a bloody coup, Mephisto transformed Mariam Xi into a deadly voidwitch. Their training left her with terrifying capabilities, a fierce sense of independence, a deficit of trust, and an experimental pet named Seven. She’s spent her life on the run, but the boogeymen from her past are catching up with her.

An encounter with a bounty hunter has left her hanging helpless in a dying spaceship, dependent on the mercy of strangers. Penned in on all sides, Mariam chases rumors to find the one who sold her out. To discover the truth and defeat her pursuers, she’ll have to stare into the abyss and find the secrets of her past, her future, and her terrifying potential.

Quick pace, a bit of fun

First, its a bit short. Would have been nice if the first three books were combined into one. Its a good story though. I didn't have too many complaints, but because of the length of the book and the speed in which it moves....you feel like you are missing something.

If it goes on sale, or is combined, its worth the credit....its a little weak considering the price otherwise.

Juvenile, but interesting nonetheless

The book came across as juvenile despite the adult content that it contains. I did enjoy the story, but I felt that the writing lacked imagination and depth. The author would have moments of brilliant text, and then moments of poor, un-entertaining mess that I stopped paying real attention to. I personally don't like having things over-explained to me when I can use context and past experience with the genre just fine. Beyond that the pacing could also use some work, and might have been solved with a slightly longer story. The climax and denouement felt like they both happened at the same time, which leaves the ending feeling rushed. A perfect text for a young adult reader who is getting into Sci-Fi, but not so much for a more mature individual with as high of standards as I have.

Very short and not that gripping

This book is fine, but not extremely gripping. A lot happened in this short book. Everything felt a little too easy, almost robotic. I got this as part of my Audible Plus membership so didn't have to spend a credit to listen which I am very happy about because it wouldn't be worth it.
