What do you do when the one you love is also your worst enemy?
Cassie is stunned and devastated when she learns that she belongs to a long line of vampire slayers known as "The Hunters." A murderous rampage by a group of elder vampires has left the Hunter line decimated and the remaining Hunters scattered around the world. With her friends Chris and Melissa's aid, Cassie struggles to rid the world of the monsters that murdered her parents. Cassie knows it is her fate, but she chafes against her heritage and is resentful of the shortened lifespan placed upon her by the circumstances of birth.
Struggling to get through every day, Cassie finds herself lost and adrift until Devon walks into her life. His arrival turns the school, and Cassie's life, upside down. Fighting against her fierce attraction to Devon and the chaos he represents in her carefully ordered days, she is irresistibly drawn to him. Though worried that what she is will place Devon in danger, she's unable to fight her feelings for him. He is the one light, and the only source of hope she has in a world that revolves around death and fear.
What she doesn't know is that Devon has some dark secrets of his own, secrets even more frightening and dangerous than hers. Secrets that threaten to tear them apart forever.

Kindred is the first book I have read by author Erica Stevens. I was immediately drawn in by the blurb. I love a good YA paranormal romance. While Kindred is book 1 in the series, I felt that the author left me with a lot of unanswered questions. i get that it is book 1 in the series, but she left so much unsaid. Even when she wrote herself an opening and i thought i was finally going to get some insight in. For example, we don't get any insight into Devon's past. He brings up a passed lost love but never explains it with any detail. And how is it that he and Cassie have no idea what the other is? I really hope that all the other questions I have are answered in the other books, but because of this i gave the Story a 2.
I LOVE SARAH PUCKETT

This is the first in a series of what seems to be YA series. The main characters are in high school. The story was good and easy to follow in audio book format. The narrator is easy to listen to with a pleasing voice and does a nice job with telling the story. This book sets up the series and explains some of the world and the situation of the main characters. I'm interested to see what comes next, especially with the 2 main characters.
I just flew through this audio book!

I can never get enough of listening to Sarah Puckett. She is great and nice to listen to. She makes the reading experience that much better and Kindred is no exception.
I am a huge fan of Erica Steven's, but I just did not love this book. Since it is the first book in a series I am more than willing to give the second book a try. I just felt nothing for any of the characters and the romance was very instalovey. I will say I'm interesting to see what happens with Devon and Cassie's relationship after that very entertaining ending.
Even though I didn't love the story and I would have liked a bit more information, especially about Devon's past, but Sarah Puckett helps make this book interesting with her awesome narrating skills. She was great as Cassie.
Ok story made better by Sarah Puckett

Not a bad start

Definitely geared towards the Twilight-fan demographic. Thankfully, these vampires don't sparkle and less teen angst crap. As for the story, it's a pretty "normal" vampire forbidden love story. Female lead comes from a vampire hunter family and falls for a vampire. Beyond that, though, it is fairly well excecuted. The narration is fantastic, which helped hold my interest. There is a bit too much love story for me, but that's a personal preference thing. All in all, it's a pretty decent book and I'd be open to continuing the series.
Decent, if YA story
