If you like Critical Failures, you'll like Klaus

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, this short story follows a familiar path familiar to those who have read Bevans pervious work. Take an oblivious, alcholic half elf and throw trouble at him. See him do whatever he can to find another drink and stumble through the world obliviously. it's a formula that works and doesn't really seem that formulaic in Bevan's case. it damn funny and cringy and good. this might be a good test to see if you like the relentlessly immature Bevan. I certainly do. the Author's and Dragons are enjoyable, but I will need to listen to the podcasts to understand how three completely self absorbed idiots survive in a party. I might have liked Brandon Thighmaster a little better, as it had more moments of bursting out laughing, but this one was pretty damn funny.

Hilarious! Thanks Bevan.

As a fan of Author's and Dragons podcast, this one (as the 3rd installment) was the least true to character, as Klaus was never QUITE this stupid in the actual game. Doesn't matter. I laughed until I had to wash snot out of my mustache. I'm also glad Bevan's evolved humor isn't ENTIRELY reliant on fisting jokes. I was a little worried after 5d6. The older school fart and dick jokes are better. Definitely worth checking out if toilet humor makes you laugh.

a terribly wonderful facepalm

Robert Bevan has created a hilariously cringe worthy character while Jonathon Sleep helps to bring this character alive. The Klaus encounter will have you shaking your head with a wtf smile of morbid curiosity while you read or listen to this story.

Densest laughs/minute of any book I've listened to

If you're here because you enjoy the crass humor of Bevan's Caverns and Creatures, I cannot recommend this highly enough. I'd say that this is less story-driven than C&C and more just "whatever it takes to make the next funny thing happen."

That isn't to say the story isn't good. I rather enjoyed the story of Klaus Richter, who is essentially the half-elven embodiment of that little nugget of degeneracy that lives in my brain. It's a bit cathartic hearing a story where the character does exactly what I think I'd do if I could just wipe all inhibition and intelligence from my brain.

It's a short story, but in the 2.5 hours it took me to listen to it, I laughed more at this than I have a most of the full-length comedy books in my Audible library. I am hopeful for a future installment, but if this is a one-and-done short story, at least it's the best it could have been. A true masterpiece of depravity.

I like the author's other stories, but not this...

It goes from bad to worse. Like beating a dead horse with an unbalanced amount sick humor.

Not good

I am a fan of the Robert Bevan’s Creatures and Caverns. although I laughed out loud a hand full of times, I struggled to finish the story.
