The Adventure keeps going.

In this second Book of the series the same level of character development and plot are magnified with many questions left
unanswered which will certainly lead to another Book.

The Narrator does a good job with the material and keeps the listener interested in this wonderful story.

Better than the first

I wasn’t sure I would enjoy the storyline transitioning to the 1940’s and was happy to be proven so wrong. I found book 2 and this new era even better than the first novel based primarily in the 1980’s. The underlying storyline and mystery become much more complex and the ending could not have been better. I’ll be moving on to book 3 next to complete the trilogy.

Time travel adventure continues!

Book two picks up where one left off in 1944. There is a brief recap in the prologue so that does help refresh the noggin. If not, you can always go back to the last couple chapters of one. The story is a bit complex with the jumping from 1944 to 1985 to 2035, but the plot is quite interesting and laid out quite well. The comments on 1944 were the most interesting to me. James Creed noticed that people were “all dressed up” and were “very friendly”. I wondered if this might be true. I’m from the 50’s and 60’s and I believe things were less complex and friendlier, so it figures that the 40’s may have been even better. I know there is at least one more book which may cover the 2035 future. I look forward to finding out what we have in store for us. Really enjoyable! Works well right after book 1.

This was a really enjoyable listen if you enjoyed book 1 you'll definitely enjoy this book!

The story continues much in the same manner as book 1 and picks up right where the first book left off. It did take a little bit to get warmed up to the tale and narrator after a long break from the first book but I don't think that would be an issue if you're coming straight from book 1. My only complaint is that this book, much like book 1, ends pretty abruptly and leaves you hanging. It's clear that the story is not over so I'm eagerly awaiting book 3's release as I'd like to see how this one turns out. If that bugs you, you may want to wait until the series is completed but it's definitely a worth the read/listen if you don't mind another wait.

As with the first book, the narration by Johnny Mack was pleasant and delivery was more than acceptable. There was not a great deal of character voice variation (compared to some) but it was enough for me and I don't feel it negatively impacted the performance.

Just as good as the first book

This book was just as good as the first. James Pinard does an excellent job in his second book of the series. This is a series worth listening to and will be revisited later. I have already recommended this to other people. Great job James & Johnny.

Gripping, Exciting, Time Travel at its Best!

Land of the Living, Book 2 is even more exciting than first novel and that one was engaging. Although each chapter identifies from WHOSE point of view (POV) it is given, and from WHEN it is given. In this instalment, the focus is on James travelling between 1944 and 1985. While his son, Michael, travels from 1985 to his own time of 2035.

The conundrum facing James is becoming clearer at each passing moment. The pace of the story increases as we get closer to figuring out the what the “bad guys” are all about. For book 1 and most of book 2, the story focuses on Deerborn, as the antagonist, but nearing the end of book 2, another nasty is recognized.

At the end of the first novel, the reader knew there would be more to the story, but things were settled enough that one could wait patiently. However, in Death and Destiny, I am anxiously waiting Book 3. I’m sure others will be as well.

Johnny Mack does a fantastic job as narrator. He has a diverse voice and uses a plethora of voices to capture each and every character including accents and gender.

James Pinard has developed his own way of depicting time travel. It is different in many ways, yet believable even though we know is science fiction.

Good continuation of the story

This book is an excellent second installment of the time travel story. There is just enough reveal as well as enough continued mystery to both keep me listening and make me excited for the final book. Too many times in trilogy style books, the middle book is merely a bridge. However, this book had its own adventure and development. I found it very enjoyable. As I listened through the first and into the second, the narrator's portrayal of some of the voices grew on me, as well. Very much looking forward to the third book.

Land of Death and Destiny

An exciting time travel story! Starting out with a quick recap of the first book, James Pinard makes sure we’re all up to speed on what’s going on since this book picks up right where the first left off.

Traveling back and forth between 1944 and 1985, James Creed is trying to reset the timeline to what it’s supposed to be by saving those who were not meant to die at the time. He’s met with obstacles every step of the way!

Johnny Mack’s narration once again drew me right in. A fantastic job.
