Publisher's summary

Collins French with Paul Noble combines an exciting new non-traditional approach to language learning with the easy, relaxed appeal of an audio-only product. No books. No rote memorisation. No chance of failure.

Paul Noble is a genius with a higher IQ than Einstein. Despite this, he still struggled with language learning at school. He found himself feeling ‘confused, incapable and unable to really say anything’. As a result of his negative early experiences, Paul has come up with a ground-breaking new method of language teaching that removes the need for months of study. With Paul Noble, everyone really can speak a language.

Part 1 of the course covers:

  • Language ground rules
  • The use of the past tense
  • Finding French words used in English
  • Asking questions
  • Essential vocabulary to use when booking into a hotel, taking a taxi, and eating out.

A native-speaking French expert helps Paul to deliver the course and to perfect your pronunciation. No complicated grammatical explanations, no rote memorisation, no writing - no stress.

Learn over 6,000 words in no time at all and - most importantly - learn how to make your new vocabulary work for you. (Use the accompanying booklet as a reference and revision tool.)

Critic reviews

Review of Paul Noble Method by The City Magazine:

“Relaxing and listening to the CDs, I found that I seemed to absorb the phrases taught, without even consciously trying, and quickly felt confident enough to play around with the different components and make my own sentences.”

Reviews of Collins French with Paul Noble by Amazon customers:

"We both have a basic grasp of the relevant languages but this course is helping to improve our speaking ability better than all the previous attempts we have made. Try it."

"The language is explained in a simple way and the teacher doesn't use complex grammar terms… Instead the teacher more or less just leads you into French so that you find you can more or less start speaking it just a couple of hours in. For me though the absolute best thing about it is that it has allowed me to speak in full, proper sentences in French… A fantastic course and a well deserved 5 stars!"

"At last an easy way to learn a language!

Easy to understand plus an easy one to pop into the car cd player and use on the move, so no more 'I haven't the time… A lot more entertaining than text books and the old fashioned way of learning a different language other than the mother tongue. '"

"Overall, the method being used is superb and I feel it more or less guarantees that someone will be speaking French by the end. This is what has happened to me – and for the first time!"

He got me to relax.

Paul Noble spent so long talking about how important it was to forget what you were learning so that you go on to remember later, that I totally relaxed. And by god, after forgetting everything he taught me, I started to actually be able to speak french! Sounds crazy but it was quite wonderful. Highly recommend this method.

Very helpful!

I found this to be a big help in being able to put useful sentences together quickly in my head. It was also good for getting me to actually speak out loud. I like the way he asks questions and gives us time to answer BEFORE giving the answer in French. That way we aren't just repeating but working it out for ourselves first. The narration by Mr. Noble and by his French assistant are both very good. He is calm and reassuring and seems convinced that we can all learn French. The female French speaker helping him is easy to understand (well, as much as any French person can be easy to understand, LOL) and pleasant to listen to. They compliment each other well. I've already bought Part 2. Don't forget to download the PDF. It isn't just a transcript of the audio but includes some other information as well.

Perfect learning tool

I loved this because it requires me to hear and repeat. It felt good being reminded not to memorize. I listened to it twice and actually feel ready to move on to the next course. Great help even for those who have tried other methods

Great lesson

Great lesson. I saw nothing of the negative items a few user's spoke of. This program is probably better suited for someone with somewhat of an established French vocabulary but not quite intermediate.

Recommend to everyone

I took 2 years of French in High school, and I've been practising ever since with Duolingo, Rosetta stone, and many other methods. I know many many MANY words, but I've never been able to form sentences more than 2 or 3 words long. I knew all the words Paul taught, but he finally helped me figure out how to put them together! He makes the grammar and sentence formation very easy to understand. I plan on buying his Spanish and Italian ones when I'm done with French.

Love this one!

Any additional comments?

I am so very pleased with the outcome of my budding French, since I started this audiobook three weeks ago. I am learning so much, in a very small amount of time, and I am not stressed with memorization. I have not become discouraged, as I often do, when trying to learn a new language. This book has allowed me to grasp and hold full sentences in french, that I know will be useful when I finally go to France. I have been using this book 6 days a week, for approx. 1 hour each day, and should be through this first book in a couple more weeks! At this rate, I'll have a huge vocab arsenal at my disposal after I complete the four books, in what I estimate will take no more than eight months at my current rate.

Empowering Lessons

I am so excited to have discovered language coach, Paul Noble! Unlike other methods that bore and don’t leave a lasting imprint, Paul has you speaking and able to construct hundreds of thoughts and sentences within the first hour alone, by exposing you to so many similarities between French and English. C’est magnifique!

Extremely Helpful!

I appreciated Paul's approach. It was very helpful to go straight into speaking sentences without worrying about remembering everything you just learned. It helped me feel more confortable using the vocabulary I already know. Thanks!
