Intro with potential!

This is a pretty good story and I liked the swordbearer hook, it leaves a lot of room for additional adventures and sub-plots. The setting was sort of a planned reincarnation, uploading the consciousness to the game world. I find it difficult to classify this in the litRPG genre. To me, it’s simply a magical fantasy adventure with a few basic game elements thrown in to capitalize on the popularity. I find it interesting that there is no major female character. There is plenty of action from start to finish but the whole point of the adventure seems to get lost in the action. The story flows from one fight to another with no particular goals being met. Sort of one dimensional or tunnel-vision-esk [sic]. The mixture of technology with sword and magic is a nice twist and a major element in the story. Three-point-five for potential. interesting concept

interesting concept but really not my type of book. To be honest I must have not read the blurb in its entirety because I'm not much into LitRPG.

Ready for book 2

This was a longer book but it went by fast. I thought the writing was good a Samuel Hoke's voice made this character stand out in the Litrpg world. Hes a man not a boy.

Interesting Immersive LitRPG

The escapism present in this setting is a great start as our main character leaves his life of illness and pain for one of grand adventure in a MMORPG. He takes the role of a warrior whose tasked with surviving in a world against great odds and enemies. But as is often the case there's a bigger evil afoot against which he joins the resistance and has a chance to be the hero that real life would never allow him to be.

It's interesting and entertaining, doesn't focus as much on the game aspects which I could see as a positive or negative depending on what you're interested in. The narration is alright, not bad but doesn't raise the story beyond where it would otherwise be.

The narrator did an excellent job. His voice is smooth and clear making the players believable.

Loved it!

It took me a chapter or two to settle into this listen but once I did, I listened all the way through. I loved it!!!!

This was a story primarily told as an immersive game. Steve was dying but was given a chance at life if he entered into this game world. From there, The Walking Dead meets the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy with a little Apocalypto thrown in for good measure. It was a fanciful and intense quest to stop the bad guy/guys from doing bad things. Along the way, challenges are met, alliances are formed, and old scores get dealt with.

I absolutely loved the narration!! There were a crapton of characters with this listen, some overbearing and some not so much. Each were given persona's that made them real.

I loved how this book wrapped up and look very much forward to the next.

A decent LITRPG BUT>...

I definitely think this is a decent LITRPG, but it can get rather slow at times and be a bit generic in the sense that you know what's going to happen mostly. I do like the characters and that improved my opinion of this a bit, and the narration was solid.

I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.

Best to listen at 1.5-1.75 speed

Narrator is a little monotonous, but voices become much better when audio is sped up... he just reads really slowly.

The story... so much happened, and the mc didnt stay in the same place for long. The main bad guy didnt really feel like such a great threat either ... feels a little rushed but probably really good for a first attempt at this kind of book
